thoughts really drive crazy!!!!

I too have been dealing with this. I have fear at every corner it seems. I went to a psychiatrist yesterday , I thought I was going crazy. I get a thought out of no where that is like, "kill em all". Not a voice mind you just a thought. That scared me. The Doctor said it was part of obsessive thinking. I would never dream of acting on anything thought like that, but it was a scary thought, then I start cycling about I should go to the hospital. THe Doctor said therapy would help, I am not crazy. She asked me if I wanted to try Paxil but I am scared too because of all the side effects, so I opted for adavan and will start counsling next week. I too have a song stuck in my head and start the more I think about it the more I play it in my head. Is there truly a way to get over this ? I Hope so. Why are we like this. Anxious and scared almost all the time . I always have had trouble with axiety but not like this. It is scary. Scary thoughts, scary feelings. I want to be my old normal self again. I want to fight this **** off. I go to work everyday, but it is truly a struggle. Just two weeks ago I would go out with the guys for a beer and have fun, go to a football game, but now I feel like a cripple. Can someone explain how this happens.

Hey Brenda, are you still around? Reason I'm seeking you out is because you were the coolest person I came across, thus far on this board. Your replies really helped me when I needed support. Anyway,I've been doing EXCELLENT!!! However, lastnight I had some anxious thoughts that just didn't let me sleep,so...here I am at my PC,typing. Somehow typing seems to help. I had a Dr. prescribe zoloft, which you mentioned you were on. They really do help me gain control over the physical symptoms of anxiety. Anyway,I know I'll be fine. My anxiety seems to just come once or twice every couple of months from what I've noticed. Anyway,Brenda...how are you doin'? Great,I hope & pray. Feel free to email me anytime. We can be panic buddies or something. catholicguy@bellsouth.net Thanx & God Bless you!!!

Nik, I believe improper breathing does play a factor. In my yoga class we were taught the proper way to breathe and my instructor informed me that I was a shallow breather. She said I breathe from my chest instead of my diaphragm and this causes a type of hyperventilation. There were times during and after panic when I would notice that I was belching or felt full of air bubbles. The instructor said those symptoms were classic for shallow breathers. She worked with me and now I consciously practice proper breahting a couple times a day----after years of doing it incorrectly I have to retrain myself!! Also, my Dr. gave me xanax to take with the zoloft until my panic began to subside but I chose not to take it. I don't like to take anything addictive and xanax can be if not used properly and monitored. I was able to get things under control by using the skills I had learned and the zoloft. Hope you have a good night tonight. I'll say a prayer for you! :)

Brenda, Thanks for the reply,I really appreciate it. I finally fell asleep at about 7am. Guess my mind & body was too exhausted to remain awake. I did wake up several times through out,so my sleep was fragmented. Noww I'm back to being highly sensitized again. Man,I was doing great for about 2 weeks, then out of nowhere, this hits me again. Anyway, you mentioned you were on Xanax. I might give that a shot. If it supresses these thoughts,I will give it a try. I recently purchased a program from the "Panic Healing Center" that retrains your body to breath properly. Claims that the reason people develop panic disorders, ultimately has to do with inproper breathing. After reading the book,it does make a lot of sense. Anyway, thanks again Brenda. You might see me post here again tonight...if I have another night like I did lastnight!

Nik, Everyone's panic is, in some ways, unique to him/her. However, the thoughts you are having truly are experienced at some point by most panic sufferers. I have had and have described to my husband the exact same thought pattern you are currenly having. It's hard to explain to others, but my mind feels as if it's barely holding on to reality. It feels as if my sanity is slipping away a bit at a time and I fear losing myself entirely. Rest assured you are OK. It's just another piece of the panic and the more we think about it the worse it seems to become. I have been able to overcome those feelings by taking medicine---I take zoloft---didn't want to but couldn't seem to arrest the thought pattern on my own. Perhaps you can try distracting your mind--force it to concentrate on something else. Listen to soothing music as you fall asleep---tell yourself you are safe and there is nothing to fear. Try a warm shower or bath before bed. I'm thinking about you!! :)

I was diagnosed with panic disorder about a month ago. The past 2 weeks however, were great. I felt "normal". But that didn't last. Lastnight I woke up from a disturbing dream & sure enough,I had a setback. So bad in fact, that here I am at 5:52am,sitting at my pc because I can't even sleep. I have these thoughts that I'm going to go insane. That eventually,I'll just forget who I am & end up in a nut house. The reason I can't sleep,is because as soon as I fall asleep, even for a minute,These thoughts of going crazy actually wake me up,in fear! I don't even really fear having a panic attack (Not that they aren't scary),but it's the actual thoughts that make me feel anxiety. If I could supress the thoughts,I'd be fine. I don't know what to do. I'm sitting here right now, jittery & anxious. I'm trying hard to convince myself that this is just part of the anxiety disorder, that I'm not crazy. But,I'm having trouble convincing myself of that. I don't know what to do. Praying works, but not right at this moment. I need some sleep. I feel as if my anxiety is unique to everybody elses & that I'm slipping away.

I used to have the same exact problem. I feel it was due to my lack of self confidence at the time period. As well as anxiety and obsession problems. I have since done much better with it as I realize it's now their problem if they end up cheating and not mine. I don't or did not trust many people back then anyway, and that could have added to it. I hope this helps you a little. David

Al, or anyone else? Does anyone have realtionship problems where they consistantly "believe" that there spouse is cheating. My partner and I ahve been together for 5 years and we ahve been through some really hard time, and my partner has taken alot from. I find that sometime small things set me off and I believe they are cheating. This thought runs through my head until I am conviced that it is true. I then interigate my partner until they're upset and then I'm depressed and the cycle repeats. Nothing seems to be able to stop this (as I am in therapy now to attempt to correct this issue) Does this happen to anyone else? Or is this a further sign of BI Polar
