My son went off to a friends house and they smoke (what seems to be LOTS) inside their house. SO, my son got in the car to go home and we had to bring him right home for a bath and then wash everything that he had taken over there. The smell was sooooo strong! I hate to think that for all those years my kids went to school smelling like smoke!!!! We take my son's friend to church and places and when he gets in the car we have to roll down the window because it smells sooo bad, I feel bad for these kids who don't deserve to smell like smoke!!! Also, can't stand walking out of a store or resturant and have to smell it! It doesn't trigger me like it used to, it just stinks!!!! too late, you already did. Remember what your read about the difference with smokers and non-smokers and how the cilia in smokers is matted down and coated with mucus to protect the esophagus? A non-smoker being in a room with smokers is much worse than a smoker being in a room with smokers. Think about it. I admit every once in a while the freshly lit cigarette smell is appealing, but not in making me want one, I just like the smell. Once it burns for twenty seconds or more, then it's rank. Go figure. It's a bit like a craving, eh? Or a shape shifter. Or beer goggles. Lookin good, lookin goo---arrgh were you that hideous last night?!?! ;p Before I quit I was in the lift at work, just after coming in from a cigarette break. Woman and guy get in with me. Woman sniffs the air and says 'do you smell that? It smells like sewage or something rotten...' Gee I wonder what she was smelling? x T My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 370 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,510 Amount Saved: 2,035.00 Life Gained: Days: 31 Hrs: 12 Mins: 58 Seconds: 40

Well, I am having more trouble now tolerating the stink. I've put away all our ashtrays, and since we quit have not invited many smoking friends over to our house. The one person that did smoke was thoughtful enough to go outside. Unfortunately, my wife still likes the smell, and I'm afraid she's going to go back. It seems to me after all the posts I've been reading, and seeing how many women are having issues with not smoking, is it harder for women to quit then men? BTY Jodi.........10 weeks! You are amazing. I know what you mean Tresa. I am so embarrassed to think of how I used to smell! I always had Altoid mints with me and washed my hands constantly, but I know now that wasn't enough. I kind of like the smell of a freshly lit cig (SCARY!), but the smell of stale smoke is so gross! I notice it on people all the time nowadays. I will always remember a bus bench when i was living in Las Vegas and it simpley said IF YOU SMOKE, YOU STINK in bold letters. I always feel ashamed when i think of how i use to be as a smoker, not careing how people felt that was around me, especially my lil grandkids saying grammy DONT SMOKE. In the beginning it dident bother me to much but them i wasent around it much, but now They just stink and iam well aware of the smell when i get around it, call me hypocrite , but the shoe fits and i wear it. I feel if we go through the trouble of quitting then it is our choice to put up with or not, we have the right. Cigarettes Not Smoked

for 16 år siden 0 2417 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I had a bonfire yesterday in the yard. Even that "smokey" smell made my stomach turn. When I smoked it never bothered me. I am happy that it makes me ill. I think that will improve the chances that I will not tempt myself to have "just one." I have just read this myself and it has finally made me decide to ban smoking in my home. I have been plodding along trying to be the kind of quitter that people wouldn't hate. Stale smoke on someone does stink so bad but the fresh smoke of people smoking cand bring on cravings long after they have gone home. From now on they can step outside and then stink when they come back in.
