Welcome Ladytrancevision,

I am glad you are posting. As Timbo mentioned, it is normal to have apprehension when thinking about quitting smoking. Smoking has likely been a big part of your life for a long time. You may have used it to relax, take a break, celebrate, etc., etc. Creating new patterns and overcoming an addiction is no east feat; but, it can be done and as many members here can attest, it is so worth it. I encourage you to take your time working through the program to create your quit plan. You decide when you are ready to quit. Preparing with information will help to motivate you and improve your quit confidence.

What are your pros and cons of quitting smoking? Writing these out will get you thinking and the more you think about quitting smoking, the more likely you are to quit.

I hope to read more from you soon,

Ashley

Hi Ladytrancevision,

Welcome to the site. Fear is normal when thinking about quitting smoking. Most people have so much fear that they never try until a life changing event happens. Don't worry about failing, it IS a part of the learning process to be able to quit and take back the control of your life. Can you ride a bike? If so, was you able to ride it the 1st time you tried? Basically its the same thing with quitting smoking., It's a learning experience. No matter how long you have smoked, you can quit. Sometimes it's not as hard as you thought it would be, and sometimes it's even harder to quit. Bottom line is you can do it! Make a plan an read through these forums. There is a ton of great information in here. The more you know about what to expect, the better prepared you can be to fight the challenges that you will face. Keep a can do attitude with you at all times too, it really does help! Best wishes on your quit journey.

Hi to whomever is reading! I so badly want to quit smoking cigarettes. It’s been nearly twenty years. I’m thirty seven and have hopes and dreams to become healthy, but I dread quitting. I don’t know any other lifestyle, and I don’t know if i’m strong enough to quit for the rest of my life. Do you? Any encouragement would be helpful. I DO NOT WANT TO KILL MYSELF BY ACCIDENT!
