You're very welcome Bob. Gald I was of some service. My husband is a little young and likes to play video games and I hated that until I found DDR. LOL. Ironic isn't it?

Actually The 700 Club is in the States...I'm sorry for misleading you. I believe I said it was CBN but the actual channel is on the ABC Family Channel and as far as I know the show comes on every weekday at 11:00pm (et). Sorry about the confusion, I am know for my "brain ****s". LOL

thank you! I have always loved to dance....especially by myself when there is no one around. I am going to try that today...just one song and I'll see where I go from there. Thank you very much for your response. I'll be back in touch. I am not familiar with with the other tools you suggested. I live in the states. Is this a Canadian show? Sincerely, Patricia

Jeep Baby thanks for your reply...theres a saying: "dance like no-one is watching". whatever motivates you to exercise...thats a great thing....i don't have playstation, so i can't immediately try DDR....sounds very good though. i will however put some music on and just dance by myself for awhile..yep i'm gonna try that...i think it might be easier than walking up and down my stairs... in my youth i once did 1000 pushups in a day. i climbed mountains and ran the mile competitively. then i let it all go...well don't live in the past, live for today...that's advice i must follow. your reply got me thinking in a positive way and in new directions. thanks for your help. bob

I'm very bad when it comes to getting exercise. I'd rather stay in bed and wish I would die. (Sorry just being honest) but when I do actually get up it helps me to watch a show. Have you ever heard of The 700 Club on CBN? Well they have a thing called skinny Wednesday. Every Wednesday the show you easy beginner ways to start working out...if you're anything like me (can't really progress past beginners)it's very helpful because it's easy. This TV show also has a prayer line you can call. I've found it quite uplifting sometimes. Another thing I do is play DDR. It's really sort of a interactive video game. If you have not heard of it, let me explain. It's called Dance Dance Revolution and I was just recently introduced to it. What it is is a game you can play at home...where no one is watching, where you have to dance along with the music beats that show up on your tv screen. You need a Play Station 2 or X Box gaming system though. They have a whole series of these games. When my friend tried to get me to play it with her for the first time I'll be honest...it ****ed me off. Mostly because I was depressed and having someone watch me make an idiot out of myself just made it worse. But once I started getting used to it I found out that most of the time I have a real blast doing it. You start to think of it more as a hobby and less as exercise which I noticed makes you less hesitant to do it more often. Hope this interests you and if you need any more info on the DDR game I'll be glad to fill you in! Good Luck

Dear Bob,Thanks so much for answering. I will try the "praying and walking" idea. Maybe if I think a little more about it.....I am very grateful for your answer anyway because any response I find is helpful. Maybe it is because it is a reminder that you are not the only one in the dark hole called "Major Depressive Illness". Thanks again. Patricia (Trish)

patricia i wrote about exercise in another posting. i don't have time to elaborate on ways i motivate myself. i have at times walked in private places and prayed. i am not religious, but i am trying to acquire some faith, some spiritually because i think it can become both a motivating and a calming force in my life. i got into sort of a "zone" in walking and praying and felt quite good about doing this. i can't just sort of connect with this most of the time, unfortunately. i will attempt to respond to your postings. i am also frustrated by the slow level of activity on this site. i feel that writing helps me considerably and i very much enjoy the response from other people. i am very impressed by the high level of compassion and intelligence of this site's participants. i will attempt to write more about ways i have motivated myself to exercise. take care bob

Hi, I'm so glad you responded. It is difficult to keep writing without response! I was also glad to get your note because I am feeling particularly down today. I take anti-depressant medication and I know to make it realy effective I need to exercise but can't seem to make myself. I wonder if there is a faith based way to get myself out and walking??? Any ideas?? Thanks and good luck!!!
