Great analogy Sunflower Painter!

Glad to hear you didn't let this increase in anxiety get to you Ashepp3! How does it feel to know you have control over this even when times get tough?

Maybe our anxiety issues are like a garden. If we don't keep up with the readings and relaxations etc weeds grow up?

We forget about the weeding but since this is a process we all need to keep up with it I guess :)

Take care

This is true and I still get them if conditions are right but they are few and I can shrug them off.

This doesn't keep me from considering myself cured. As far as I am concerned I am.

Thanks for your replies.

I wanted to let you guys know that I was scared at first but I'm feeling a lot more confident now. I didn't get sucked back into the cycle (as I feared I would).

I think this may actually be a good experience for me to realize that I can have a panic attack once in awhile because something is bothering me but that doesn't have to mean that I'm a complete mess again.

Hi Ashepp3,

Sorry to hear you had a little set back. But glad to hear from you! I missed seeing those little cockatiels!

Remember that this is normal and even essential to the healing process. It may not seem like there was a trigger but there likely was. Keep doing what you are doing, practice relaxation techniques, exercise, eat healthy, avoid caffiene and review a few spots in the program. It will pass. You know you have learned a lot since you first came here so all those skills will help you now. But you are right, do not give this anxiety more power then it's worth. What can you learn from it? What's the gift in it?

Been there, one that. More than once actually. I would take the Ativan just to break the cycle and keep you from falling back into the old routine. A couple of nights should get you right if you follow the pattern that I did. More than that and you need to talk to your therapist.

Davit, who hates Ativan.

Hi Ashepp,

After doing some gardening last year, I realized how similar we are emotionally to the worlds ecosystems. We have all these little systems internally, and need to tweak or attend to them, to keep our selves nurtured; pruning ourselves too, just like software has to have revisions.

Isn’t it hard to keep it up though?

I was doing so well. I hadn't had any panic attacks for almost a year (after going through a period of heavy panic and depression), just general anxiety here and there.

But last night I woke up abruptly at 1:30am and had a panic attack. The usual, just felt really weird like something was horribly wrong and really hot and lightheaded. Afterwards felt cold, shaky, chills, and digestive distress all night. Went to the ER because I was so scared, it had been so long. They didn't find anything.

Was able to sleep after I got back and had an okay day today but now I am feeling anxious again. Hot and an upset stomach and just feeling like something isn't right.

I have no idea why this is happening all of a sudden. Everything seems fine in my life right now. I made a lot of changes when I was suffering before that really helped me. I see a therapist, although I am down to once a month now and might have to bump that back up.

I'm just really upset that this is happening again after all this time but I don't want to psych myself out. I'm hoping it's just a little stumble.

I have a prescription for Ativan but I'm scared to take it.
