Hi davidb88, You mentioned that you have recently quit smoking - I just wanted to let you know that we have a very informative sister site located at www.stopsmokingcenter.net that you may find helpful. Even though you have already quit, there is an online program there that may help you understand more about the quitting process. Depression is a common withdrawal symptom. Lol so a leafs fan heh? Anyway, my advice to you is stop reading about diseases and stuff on the internet. We all do it and we all freak ourselves out about this and we all need to stop doing it lol. Since i am stopping myself from doing it i feel a whole heck of a lot better :) Plus, as for the negative thoughts challenge them. There are great tools on here to challenge your thoughts when you do the program. As for your psychologist appointment i am glad that you took that step. As for being nervous, well worse case scenario, if you don't like him, you are alowed to shop around for a new one :P Let me know how it goes! -Diva

I guess we wouldn't get along, I'm a diehard Leafs fan :). GO LEAFS GO. Anyways I started to take Tyrosine and SAM-E which are natural precurrsors that occur in the body to produce serotonin and norpenempeneprine. But I guess the quitting smoking depression is really dampering my spirits, but I've been forcing myself to do stuff no matter what, I've taken up cooking to help pass the time. It's just that I'm always home alone so it's hard to find stuff to do. But as for panic attacks after it I was suffering from minor agorphobia but forced myself to go out and Have stopped future anxiety dead, I haven't had really any body anxiety in 3 days. It's just my mind keeps racing thinking of negative things which is really bothering me and I just want it to stop arg........I've been through this same thing before I just read to much on the internet and then think im going crazy and I have all these diseases/mental disorders but in reality i've never been paranoid, shy or anything but i read about schezphrenia and then all of a sudden my mind thinks im paranoid which before has never ever happened. Frustrating,But I have my first phycologist appointment tommorow which i'm nervous about

Oh I totally agree about the distraction thing. Making myself distract myself has saved me alot of anxiety panic and depressive feelings! I am a total fan of healthy distractions lol. As for hockey i dont know that much about it but in my house we are Ottawa senators fans lol Where i sit atm i can see two ottawa senators mugs on a shelf lol! So i don't know that much about hockey but if it can help David with distracting himself i am game in entering the Hockey chat ;p Anyway, david, i agree with Lil_bit. It is normal to feel depressed after a panic attack and i also agree that distraction really does help. -Diva

It's totally normal to feel depressed after a panic attack. Your body temporarily has a mind of it's own (atleast that's how it feels) and the effects of a panic attack are exhausting. What I've started doing is after a panic attack or a very stressful time, I MAKE myself get up and do something...anything. I do tend to just lie around immediately after a panic attack because it is very tiring, but I don't lie there for hours feeling sorry for myself anymore (and I'm not saying that you do) Do something "light"...watch a funny tv show, play a game, anything to get your mind off what you just dealt with. Distraction is a wonderful thing. Fifteen minutes ago I was on the verge of a panic attack, but instead I decided to get on the computer and see what's going on. No panic attack :) I do realize that I can't always "short circiut" my panic attacks with distraction, but the more I can, the better I feel. I guess what I'm saying is maybe you can distract yourself from the depressed feeling the way I distract myself from the panic attacks and anxiety. You mentioned hockey...who's your favorite? I'm from Buffalo and a HUGE Sabres fan, we could talk hockey if you want. I don't know everything about the game but maybe talking to someone that's interested in the same things as you might help with your "funk". Get you excited about the things you love, distract the things you dislike (ie: that depressed feeling) Cheer up, it will get better!

Does anyone else experience Depression and withdrawl after a Panic attack. It seems the last 2 weeks I've just been so incredibly down and it's frustrating. I started to take SAM-E and Tyrosine to boost Serotonin and Norpeneprine so hopefully that will help. After my Panic attack i've just felt out of it...........Anyone experience simliar effects, I just dont feel like going out, watching hockey which I normally always do. Dont feel like doing anything but im anxious and cant not be doing something
