Good luck with your program Junebug.  I am also just starting a day program.  Please keep checking in.  You are so brave to take this step.  We are all behind you.

Splitimage, I am interested to hear more about your experience with Women for Sobriety.  There is a group that meets in my community but I'm not sure what to expect if I go.

Junebug,

Good for you for starting a program.   That takes a lot of courage, and I hope you find it really helpful.   I know I've been in rehab a number of times, and actually prefer outpatient.   That way you're still living and home and have to deal with triggers and temptations, but you have on-going support during the day to help you through it.

Don't know if you're female or not, although by you're user name I'm guessing you are.   If you are you might want to check out Women for Sobriety.   They're not at all like AA.   I really like their program and am using it in my own recovery.   They don't have a lot of IRL meetings, but they have a fabulous on-line discussion forum which is really supportive, and they have on-line meetings 3 times a day.

Thank you again ~m and Josie,

It has been a on going issue, i was actually going to go to AA, but i thought there are issues underlying my alcoholism that come from childhood. so i am def not ruling out AA but i am going to this program because it helps me with addiction but also the reasons i self medicate. so i am looking forward to it, it will be tough seeing as i am still struggling with my alcoholism. I am so appreciative of this site and everyone here , its a great comfort to come somewhere where people understand what you are going through and do not judge and are always so positive especially when its such a struggle and are dealing with feelings of shame.

Good for you Junebug... it takes a lot of courage and determination to finally accept the treatment that you need.  It's great that your community has an out-patient program... harder, I would think in some ways... but maybe more real to life.  I've done inpatient which helps, but the transition to real life after treatment is tough.  Sounds like you have found a good solution.  We are here for you all the way.   DO post as often as you can...
