Winding down? Really?

Need kids back.

I'd urge you to talk to your Dr.  One of your other posts mentioned getting the shakes - that's a sign of physical addiction.   Your Dr. can help you or get you help to make the withdrawal less unpleasant and less dangerous.   Alcohol withdrawal is unpleasant, and can also be dangerous.  I've had withdrawal seizures.  Better safe than sorry.

Because my kids are gone I feel this intense pressure to fix it all at once. Setting a long term goal is in direct conflict with my immediate needs.. Quitting is hard enough without the clock ticking.. what other choice do I have. The stress of having them gone is making me physically ill but defeat is not an option for me (us).. Like I said, "fight of my life"

Need,

Tough choices to be made.  You have recognized that you have an addiction.  How are you going to handle it?  Make a quit date, work toward it!

Use coping mechanisms
Keep busy
Try a hobby
Join a team
Use relaxation techniques

Whatever it takes to get you there..do it!

We are here for you!

When trying to quit is a gradual reduction actually going to help? Or am i just kidding myself, grow some stones and flat out quit?
