My friend smoked 4 cigars a day and tried the patch and gum and finally the electronic cigarette and now just puffs non nicotine vapor ( does not inhale ) he say he gets the smoking sensation without the harmful effects - and doesn't stink up his house.

Quitting has changed my life ! My family and friends are so happy for me ! I have energy and not coughing up blobs of tar. I have joined the gym and am walking at least 1 or more miles a day. I have saved enough money to go on a nice vacation !

Since I have quit, the quality of my life has been enhanced beyond what I ever imagined when I was smoking. Some benefits I'v experienced.

1) Health. Despite my fears about long-term health impacts, I had not previously thought of myself as unhealthy while smoking. Yet, when I quit, I had so many improvements that made it obvious that i had been suffering before. My little annoying cough went away. My night time wheezing (which I had attributed to "allergies") all but vanished. My blood pressure dropped, and I was able to stop all blood pressure medications. I developed way more endurance for physical activities that I love (bicycling) and was able to engage in activities that weren't possible for me before (running). My pain levels (related to arthritis and pinched nerves in my spine) were reduced. A damaged fingernail that had regularly gotten infected and never grown back correctly for 7 years finally grew back in and stopped getting infected.

2) Freedom. I no longer think about smoking 20+ times/day. I can sit through a long, tedious meeting at work without hearing the internal cry for nicotine steadily increase in volume. I can stay in the car, on a bus, or a plane as long as I like without having to jump out every couple of hours to smoke. I don't have to plan a trip or budget for the cigarette store every week or so. My moods are no longer dictated by blood nicotine levels.  ...I simply don't have to think about it anymore.

Wish I'd have quit years before I did. Life is so much better now.

The list is so long I am going to have to read a partial list to you. The bottom line is that you have nothing to lose.
You should watch this youtube video:   http://bit.ly/1ofP5QY

Quitting smoking cigarettes is a pure gain; you lose absolutely nothing. You are not losing a friend; you are not losing the ability to cope with stress or anxiety or boredom. Cigarettes do not accomplish those things. You do. Here is a partial list of the benefits to quitting smoking.
You will smell better. Dating will become easier and you will have more intimacy.

You will have less of a cough or your cough will disappear entirely.

You will have more energy, more vitality and a smoother complexion.

Deeper sleep, nicer breath.

Less concern about long term health.

You will save thousands of dollars a year.

You will avoid getting to death. I tell my clients death is not the worst thing can happen from quitting smoking. It is getting to death that really is the problem. Avoid all of that.

Clearer thinking and a stronger heart.

Greater endurance as you lose weight.

Less stress and anxiety.

You will no longer be a social pariah; you will fit in in your social circles.

You will be able to stop planning your life around smoking cigarettes and when you can smoke.

You will have more time…and who would not love to have more time nowadays?

You will have less of a chance of cancer, heart disease, stroke and infections.

More time with friends, children and grandchildren.

Hi Everyone,
As we know, quitting smoking is hard. For some it’s easier than others but any way you put it, it’s no easy feat to quit. There’s a lot of decisions to sort through when it comes to quitting, choosing a quit aid, cutting down or quitting cold turkey, when to stop, etc.  Once you’ve finally ironed out all of the fine details it can be hard to find the motivation to actually get going.
There are a lot of benefits to help keep people motivated to quit smoking; short/long term health, saving money, freedom from addiction, approval from self, friends and family… the list goes on and on. Apart from the benefits, it’s also really encouraging to reward yourself to keep motivated.
These are just a few examples of the benefits you can use to keep you motivated. As we prepare for the weekend, please share with us the benefits you've thought about to keep you motivated on both the good and those not so good days.
