Congratulations Eyja I've been away for a while and didn't see this until now. Three years is a huge achievement. You're right that quitting smoking has made us more than we were and will continue to spill over into other aspects of our lives. Excellent for us for not smoking today. breather
Thanks so much for all your support and kind comments! I appreciate each one of your thoughtful replies and am honored to be here celebrating my 3 year nicotine free Anniversary.
To answer your question Ashley - what I enjoy most about being a non smoker has to be 'Potential'. With the confidence that I can follow through on a goal as tough as quitting smoking, I discovered the courage to forge ahead in so many other aspects of my life. Since I quit smoking, I've joined Toastmasters, opened my own business, enrolled in - and graduated from - a number of educational courses in my field of study, paid off my credit card debt, grew my hair long, incorporated exercise into my life and am now just 10 lbs away from ideal (desired) weight. I finally figured out how to combat the hand to mouth addiction part of smoking that kept me snacking, so now I can enjoy food again without the triggers residual from being a smoker.
So YAY! It really can be done! We just need to remember "NOT ONE PUFF EVER!" That and the support from SSC.
Congratulations on your 3 year anniversary, Eyja. And thanks again for your supportive words when I began this journey over a year later. I've really appreciated you being here.
Wow! I can't believe that it has been 3 years already! Huge congratulations to you, buddy! Celebrate your 3rd anniversary well and keep those rewards coming! I'm so proud of you!!!
Congratulations on a great 3 year anniversary! I hope you still reward yourself a little.
Hopefully some new quitters will have seen your post and they will have gained a bit of inspiration from showing what can be done when you stay determined and positive.
