Agreed ! I like the very act of lighting up, inhaling and exhaling , the stress relief factor and just the something to do habit of it all. I find the best thing for me is vaping, I use an Ecig and it fulfills all these needs as I slowly ween off the nocitine

Smoking is more than an addiction to nicotine. It is a physical and emotional release from stress and tension. It meets an inherent need that smokers might not have been able to address any other way.Smokers, on the whole, will say they wish they never started. But smoking may have initially served and important function, whether increasing a sense of empowerment, belonging, or distraction from stress. Whatever the reasons, those long-forgotten needs may linger.Nice thoughts there.....

I am on day 9, around 7 hours to finish the day smober, as some say. Some days are easier than others, and this day has been relatively easy. I do think you are on to something with the constant crave when we were indulging our addiction. Sometimes the crave was enough I would smoke two cigs and then want another. Imagine going 9 days when I didn't think I could go an hour. Nice imagery you have going on there, it does help to think of it as you said, "they may seem real but they are not".  Thank you for posting,

I've found that one of the ways I could help myself move through this was to continually come up with pep talks like this.
 
I do think what I wrote back in May is true. And my desires/ urges/ "craves' are even less frequent since I wrote that in May. I'm down to once every 5-6 days. I do wish it was less than that, after all this time. But I'll take one mild one every 5-6 days over the 10 intense craves/ day I had at the very beginning.

Thanks working on it, never thought of it this way, but so true!  You always seem to have such insight into this horrible addiction and are a great help to many I'm sure.
