How do you plan for success?

Hi Working on it,

It sounds like a great strategy - one that helps you focus on the present moment and achieving 'smaller' day to day goals.
What helps motivate you to begin acting on your goals?

I begin to visualize myself accomplishing the goal. I imagine what it's like to be there already. Then I begin to think about strategies to get me there. How much money and time will it take? Is there more than one way to do it? etc. Then I break the task down into steps, and start with some small and easy ones. I did this for going back to school for additional certificates/ degrees, for quitting smoking, and now for my exercise regimen.

I think my biggest snag is that it takes me a long time to visualize and then generate the drive to act upon that visualization.

Members,

When pursuing a goal or making a change towards healthier behavior choices, how do you plan for success?

That is, what methods and tools do you use to help you prepare for the changes you are making? For example, do you use lists, reminder bracelets, do you keep a drawer of coping tools, etc?

Please share with us your best preparation strategies and tell us about how this planning has made a difference in your behavior change experience.

Thanking you all in advance for your input,

Sonia
