vickers....would you feel guilty about taking meds for a heart condition, diabetes, blood pressure....why do you allow yourself to suffer....I totally understand....Ive tried no meds for years because I felt I HAD to beat this but it was useless.......I wish I could find a med that works..since I cant find anything that totally works, I stick to a low dosage benzo(.25) and antid(5mg) to just help a bit, along with excercise, cbt, diet, etcetc ...if Paxil worked for you, why did you stop.......did you have side effects from it OR have a hard time withdrawing? What dosage was effective for panic.

Jen, This type of question is referred to your doctor or pharmacist. they will be able to help with mixing, side effects and dosages of medications. Hope this helps, Josie ______________________________ The Panic Center Support Team.

Jen, I wouldnt think so. Im on antidepressants and I drink 2 types of tea a day. One which helps w/ my tummy and digestion and another before bed which makes you sleepy. Its tea and it shouldnt be harmful. But i know how it is to be paranoid about mixing drungs and other things 2gether...Im the exact same way ... Just to be sure, you can ask your doctor if theres an interaction with a specific product and the Valium youre taking. Tomorrow im going to a health store to buy some relaxing herbal supplements but first im going ask my doctor for any interactions lol ;) Im such a paranoid geek *sigh* Hope i was of some help and let me know how you do, Bianca xoxo

Question...is it bad to take an herbal supplement as well as a medication for anxiety? Example...if I drink chamomile tea, and I still need to take my valium, is it going to do me any harm?

Hi Vickers You should not feel so worried. If a combination of this program and a herbal supplement helps you, then that is what you should do. The key is to find something that makes you happy and relieves you of some of your panic sumptoms. In my case, my choice is to take meds, see a psychotherapist who teaches C.B.T. and drink lots of relaxing teas. Now thanks to you, I will also go to the store to get some herbal supplements to relax me and see if it works for me. You have to find a combination of things that work best for you. Every person is different. Let me know how you're doing Hope you feel better.. ciao xoxo

Thanks for the advice! I have been thinking about herbs a lot lately and have tried two. I tried Chamomile tea, which worked well but completely zonked me out - on the upside, I slept really well that night! :) But, because it made me so tired I can't take it during the day when I may need it. I've tried Kava Kava, which worked really well the first two times but hasn't since - I don't know what's up with that. Plus, I've heard that there is a rare chance Kava Kava can cause liver problems so I tend to not take it because of that worry. I've only taken it four or five times actually. I guess the main thing I worry about is taking something when I need it and then not giving myself the opportunity to try to get over that panic attack without help from something. I feel like if it's a medicated panic attack, then it's a missed opportunity to become stronger. I don't know if that makes any sense! Anyways.... thanks for the advice! It's a miracle having people to talk to that understand completely! :)

I take herbs for anxiety/panic, I wont take scrip meds even tho I know they have helped alot of folks. Its just a personal choice for me. I started taking Relacore on the 7th, its sold as a tummy fat reducer (on tv ads) but it has a great blend of herbs that are supposed to help reduce anxiety. So I am giving them a try. Just remember that herbs take longer than meds to build up and work since they are natural and not synthetically enhanced like scrip medicine. I have noticed in the short time on the Relacore that I have more enegry, seem to have a better mood, calmer and more alert. I have had some anxiety but I have alot going on in my life too, some anxiety is normal. Talk to the herbalist at the store you decide to buy your herbs in, they are will informed and can help you decide which is best for you. They usually recommend a blend of herbs for best results.

I don't see anything wrong with using the herbal supplement. It isn't something you will not want to use later. It may help for now and who know, you might not need it after the 12 week program.

I have lived with this for at least the last 12 years, seven of those years I was taking Paxil. I recently got off the Paxil and now take nothing. I am desperate not to get back on the meds. I don't even take Tylenol for a headache! There's something about meds that just make me uneasy. Now that I am off Paxil, the panic and anxiety is rearing it's ugly head again but I do not want to get on meds. I am doing the 12 week program on this site and I am noticing that it really does help. I still have some bad days and some really bad days. I'm only on week three so I'm still working on it. My question is this. I keep thinking that if I were to take an herbal supplement for the really bad days, that I am missing an opportunity to work this out on my own and strengthen my ability to beat this. But, I have read about things like PureCalm (herbal supplement in tincture form that is a blend of herbs to relieve anxiety) and I keep thinking, maybe I should just take something like that so when it gets bad I won't have to deal with it. Am I insane? I must be ;) Should I take something when I am having a really hard time or should I just stick with the program and build up my mental defenses? I know that sounds incredibly stupid, but I am worried if I take something when I get hit upside the head with a panic attack that I will be forcing myself to miss an opportunity to become stronger. Any comments or suggestions?
