My husband and I didnt get the cough and our nurse told us that was not such good news as it can mean the lungs are too damaged to repair, apparently (the Health mods will verify this) the coughing is the tiny hairs growing back and pushing out all the debris caused by smoking as the tiny hairs see these as an irritant to be got rid of.
So, although a nuiscance the coughing is a good thing at least it shows your healing.

The choice you made was a health one! Your body is still trying to heal and it will get better! Treat yourself for one week accomplished and let your body and mind heal. Use relaxation techniques to help you sleep and go for a walk to clear your mind!
My coughing lasted about a week but got less and less each day. I know that feeling about being tired. I felt like I had the flu for about two weeks....then started getting better..
You are NOT alone.......

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate your support, it helps me alot to have someone tell me that things I'm going through are normal. I will wait a little for my lungs to clear and if it don't start getting better, I will go to the Dr. I will up the ice water that I drink too. Maybe that will help. I used to hardly ever drink just plain water but I'm finding that it tastes pretty darn good.

You are getting rid of the nasty sticky thing in your lungs! Your body is healing and that is a normal thing. My cough lasted few days. Ask your doctor, maybe it is another thing, its allergies season so just eliminate all the options so you can rest
easily
Congratulations Deb, you are doing fine. All the physical discomforts shall be fading with time.

I had smoked for around 40 years and I just quit smoking 8 days ago. How long do I cough this crap up. It is making it very difficult to sleep and then I'm tired all day. Do you think I will ever be normal again? I'm just so sorry that I did this to myself.
