ladycigevictor,

First off, congratulations on all your accomplishments! What an achievement!

Thank you for sharing this list with other members. I am sure they will find it useful. And you are absolutely correct, it is all about your attitude when quitting smoking. You are the one in control and can decide your future as a non-smoker.

Now the important question, how did you reward yourself for 2 years smoke-free?!!?

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Two years ago today I smoked my very last cigarette.  Ever.

So much has happened in my life since that day.  I've made it through with the help of this site, some very good quit buddies and a lot of self-education.  Preparation and hard planning for this quit helped, but nothing could have prpared me for a few of the events I've gone through recently.
What has saved my quit during these stressful times is understanding that sometimes it's attitude alone that gets us through.  We just have to tough the bad times out, but we CAN do it.  So in honour of a CAN-do-it attitude, I've started a list.

Please add to it, change it, make it your own and print out a copy to keep in your wallet or purse.  If a day comes when you feel an overpowering urge to light up, pull out your list and know you can make it through any difficult time...a slip or a relapse can be avoided.

            You can do this

  • You can get your breath back
  • You can smell your shampoo and so can everyone else
  • You can exercise a little or a lot without huffing and puffing
  • You can be so very proud of yourself for this gift you're giving youself and your loved ones
  • Your loved ones can tell you how proud they are of you
  • You can book a flight or a cruise or a million other things without considering smoking
  • You can enjoy every minute of a movie or a trip to the zoo
  • You can go on a long road trip with the windows rolled up
  • You can stay inside during intermissions at concerts and sporting events
  • You realize you can do anything you put your mind to…because you've quit smoking
  • You can really celebrate a success now without having to go outside to do it
  • You can mourn your losses with the ones you love instead of looking for a door to go outside
  • You can spend time before your job interview checking your resume instead of your breath
  • Your clothes can smell nice even when you’ve worn them
  • Your teeth can whiten naturally
  • You can smell the grass and fresh air after a gentle summer rain
  • You can regain the freedom to live life on your terms
  • Your taste buds can improve dramatically
  • Your body can heal much quicker
  • Your mind and body can work faster
  • You can lose weight
  • You can know you are the boss of you, not the addiction bossin you around
  • You can learn to deal with your emotions instead of putting them off by smoking
  • You can be happy, ecstatic even and not once think about smoking
  • You can cry healing tears without a stick of paper wrapped poison
  • You can save money
  • You can save time...a lot of it every day
  • You can have more energy for the people and things you love
  • You can look forward to the future and what it might bring
  • You can live longer
  • You can love life
  • You can quit
  • You can ........
