Anyone Obssessed with Heart Rate?

for 19 år siden 0 20 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Wow, I thought I was the only one obsessed with this! I check my pulse at least a few times an hour. Expecally since my anxiety has worsened over the last month. I have been having lots of palpitations at night and first waking up in the morning, so I check it even more then. Today I have had the cold shivvery sweats, from the zoloft, or anxiety, don't know which, but that has made me even more concerned, so I have been constantly check the pulse.

i get obsessed with my pulse rate. today it was up in the 80s, but now it's down to 70 bpm, thank goodness. i kind of find myself rating the severity of my panic by the rate of my pulse.

Hi all, My name is Jason. My panic attacks usually start with an innocent "skipped" heartbeat. It scares me and then i have a panic attack. Of course the more anxious you are the more of these skipped heartbeats you will have. I do have skipped beats when i lay down and also sometimes it feels like my heart is struggling to beat. These are all normal manifestations of our problem. ANXIETY. **** ANXIETY Good luck! Jason

To wild! I laid down to go to bed tonight and my heart felt like it was turning over, or skipping a beat! That's why I'm up trying to calm myself down. Thanks for you're posting, it's helping me feel almost normal. Melisa

I have this problem...especially when I can hear my heart beating loudly!! I will get out my stethoscope and listen to my heart beat which usually really freaks me out. SO...I have vowed not to listen anymore and just ride it out. Because I know listening will just make me panic more. That skipping beat thing is what really puts me over the edge (thanks for the explanation on that). Listening to my heart beat or taking my pulse is a trigger for me...so I'm trying not to do it anymore :) It's not easy.

I read in a book somewhere that your heart actually does skip beats normally, all healthy people have occasional missed beats and I also read that people with anxiety have more becuase your heart reacts to when you are anxious. It's hard at the time but when I go to check my pulse I tell myself I'm being silly and I think to myself " I'm not anxious, I'm excited, my heart is beating faster because i'm excited" your heart beats the same way when you are excited as when you are anxious.

I totally understand!! I am always taking my pulse. Another problem I have is I feel like my heart is always skipping beats and it always happens as I lay down to sleep at night. It keeps me awake and drives me crazy. Your not alo

I actually go through bouts of obsessive blod pressure taking which gives me the pulse as well. When I first started having bad anxiety in early August, I tried to do everything I could to help myself. Eliminated caffeine, cut nicotine in half, drinking nothing but water, excersing almost every day, and have lost a good deal of weight (on purpose). Where I am going with this is as my pulse has dropped due to reduced stimulants, excercise and weight loss, I even freak out when my pulse is lower than it was before it started. I do know one thing for sure, focusing on your heart rate or blood pressure doesn't help you lower it at that moment. Your anxiety increases it, then when it's not the result you want, it gets even worse. Just relax and if you do need to check it, relax for 5 minutes before you do. Good luck.

I should know better than to focus on my heart rate. I took my pulse and it was 85bpm. It's probably a little high because I felt a little anxious prior to taking it. Does anyone here have the same problem with obssessive pulse taking?
