Extra heart beats

Hi, I have mitral valve prolapse. I have palpitations, skipped heart beats, fluttering etc. It scare the death out of me. I've had it since 1999, never really notice it, but lately I feel every beat, feel every missed beat. It's once again putting me over the edge. I feel like I'm losing the battle. They are putting me on a holter monitor for 24 hours to monitor the beats. Just to ease my mind that everything with my heart is okay. It's just waiting until then, that makes it hard. Kathy

Hi There, You are the first person who has said that they also feel like they have to go to the bathroom!! There is apparently a name for it. It is caused by the rush of adrenaline in our system. I have Benign PVC's, abt 100 a day. A typical Panic attack for me is caused by these, due to my anxiety from them. My heart rate picks up, I start to sweat profusely, I then get nauseas, dizzy and my eyesight goes fuzzy, I cannot stand up, I have to lay down, but then I have to go to the bathroom, I get very shaky and weak. I have passed out twice and was sick to my stomach once. Ativan helps but it does not work fast enough to stop the attack, just to shorten and minimize the spacey after effects. I haven't had one since I have been on Effexor. That would be the beginning of January.

Does anyone ever have what feels like an extra hard beat or extra beat in heart during a panic attack? I have Paroxysmal Atrial TAchycardia but I'm just wondering if anyone else has ever dealt with this. My attacks start out as i begin to feel my heart beat a little faster than normal, I get very tensed and jittery, on edge I guess, and get very scared, my heart will start to pound then I feel an occasional extra beat...afterwards I have muscle spasms and get sick to my stomach and cold, then hot...nasuea and feeling like I have to go to the bathroom. Just wondering if anyone else has these kinds of things happening. THanks!!!
