I found the site in a earlier post.  I joined this morning.  I need to learn to navigate through the site.  But all in all it is pretty much the same as this one.

Thanks

Beckylynn

beckylynn,

Quitting smoking and weight gain go hand in hand. A great place where you can get tips and great information is out sister site www.healthyweightcentre.net, we'd be glad to have you join us!

Well, I decided to list everything I eat today and see what I can change.  I know I am not shoveling in good foods.
So if nothing else I can change the way I eat and really start doing what you all are telling me.  EAT HEALTHY FOODS!
I know I am stubborn at times.  I give I am going to the store tonight and stock up on healthy stuff.  No More Junk.
And I am going to really make it a point to do some find of exercise everyday.  Even just a little bit is more then I get now.
I need to get off my duff and just do it.  Kinda like I did with quiting.
I won't obcess about it,  just need to change a few things.  If I really get a bad crave day the diet will go out the window and NOPE will be the focus.

Hiya

I put on about 8kg (20lbs...?) in the 5-6 months after I quit. I wasn't really eating that much differently. The metabolism does change. But then I found after doing weight watchers for a spell that the metabolism shifted back (especially after I started exercising more, I think).

I've lost 10kgs! I am thinner than when I quit and definitely more fit.

I tell you this as a person who let weight gain be the excuse for a botched quit on the last attempt. One thing I can say is that you shouldn't panic and you really shouldn't smoke. Give it some time...

Beckylynn, I bumped up a thread I had going a while back on this very subject.  It's titled "OK, I give".  I don't know if you've read it, but you might take a look at it and all the other threads in this topic of "Smoking Cessation and Weight-Gain".
I was obsessed with the gaining weight and probably still am.  The conclusion I've come to is that as an avid exerciser and healthy eater I am still gaining weight.  It's not because I eat horribly, it's because my metabolism has changed.  I am doing everything everyone else has suggested ie... fruit, veggies, water, healthy stuff, but I'm almost 3 months quit and just added another lb the other day to make 10 lbs gained so far.  Our bodies will level out after a few months or a year if we just take care of ourselves now.  Not smoking is the most important think right now.

Beckylynn,
I have found that if I take a huge bowl of brocolli and colliflower to work with me, with 2 tblspoons of low fat ranch, it helps with the eating everything in sight.  I limit the ranch dressing b/c it is very fattening.  So normally, when I finish off the ranch, I am stuffed beyond believe, and done with my crave.  When I just can't take anymore veggies, I sip on my bottle of water.  And when I can't take that anymore, I move to chocolate, LOL.  I need to eliminate that last step, but haven't yet.  And since I discovered the veggies and water, I have cut down on the chocolate significantly.
