Don't be sorry, just get yourself ready again. I have been there, beating yourself up doesn't do any good. When your ready, jump back in. Oh darn, I hate it when this happens to someone I like! First off, never feel like you've done something "wrong", because you haven't. You have just learned something about yourself, and you have also admitted that you are addicted to nicotine and that you can't just have one. I know from experience that the next couple of days will be a little harder on you just BECAUSE you smoked for those few days; it's like "you did it before, you can/should do it again" but once you firmly say NO and mean it, the temptation will recede a bit more. Now here's the thing. This is an addiction. It has no brain, it has no intelligence, it's not trying to outwit you. It's purely chemical reactions in the brain. So it's up to you to DECIDE that you know what's best for your brain, and CHOOSE freedom, CHOOSE to fight the addiction rather than fighting the quit. Remember, when we smoked we only thought about quitting, and now you have! So take our hands, we will help you through this. Post here and wait for 10 replies before you smoke; if you are out with others, you will have to tell yourself to postpone the smoke UNTIL you can post and 10 people reply. OK? Hugs, Denise My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/9/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 92 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,840 Amount Saved: $460.00 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 7 Mins: 12 Seconds: 18

Hi Robin..try not to beat yourself up too bad. Quitting smoking is not an easy thing to do. I smoked for 35 years..the last 10 were 2 packs a day. The thing that made me determined to quit, was I found something I wanted more than spending so much money on cigarettes. I wanted an additional vacation week at my timeshare, and the cost of smoking more than covered the mortgage. Thus, not smoking. I also had to stay away from my circle of smoking friends for a while. It was tough, but now they are talking of quitting. One of my friends told me today his quit day is Monday. I'm really happy that he and his wife will do this together. You can do this!! Just remember to post before you smoke. Hi Robin. Well you kind of have to start again... with getting the nicotine out of your system.... Are you doing this quit ...cold turkey? a NRT may be helpful, I used chantix.. had used the patches in the past but i'm allergic to the adhesive. others here have used lozenges or gum. you are getting some nicotine,, less than if you smoked.. and not getting all the ratpoison. tar carbon monoxide, bleach... etc. Use the programs here. Figure out your triggers. if you can avoid them for a few days.. IF not be aware of what they are. and try to have all guns loaded and ammo ready.. fly swatters, squirt bottles. I pictured the "craves" as something that looked like the tazmanian devil... with flames coming out of its mouth and red bulging eyes.. and I go after him with a baseball bat... Yah hoo I win. picture yourself .. in a beautiful dress, make up hair do.. la de dah.. non smoker.. picture yourself in all kinds of situations as a NON smoker... as mu buddy Jim says PMA positive mental attitude... pick yourself up dust yourself off and start again. Hey Robin :) Well I guess my questions to you would be... are you back on your quit again ? If so, have you discarded all remnants of smoking ? Ashtrays, left over cig's etc ? Do you know what the trigger was to want to smoke ? These are just some of the basic questions when someone slips which you should address.. We're all here for you hon.. to support your decision to get back on with your quit and put that slip behind you ! What's done is done and you can't change the past -- BUT you CAN change right now and the future :) Sending you tons of MAJOR ((((((((HUGS)))))))) and even more SUPPORT ! You can do this.. look how far you've come ! You're a smart woman and you will rise high above and fly !
