I'm done with Hell Week

Kitty, Never feel silly, you are fighting a very tough addiction and it takes great strength and courage. And don't tempt yourself at this stage of the game, I would stay away from the smoke. Divorce yourself from the nasty things. You have made it through hell week! A great testament to your resolve! Keep it going. We're all proud of you!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 448 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,960 Amount Saved: $1,254.40 Life Gained: Days: 44 Hrs: 20 Mins: 13 Seconds: 45

Thanks everyone for the positive comments! After I had the dreams I woke up feeling kind of silly! I was definetly happy though that I had them in my dreams and not in real life. One thing that is different about this quit for me, is that this time around the smell of cigarettes isn't disgusting to me yet. When I have attempted to quit in the past after the first few days I would notice the smell a lot more, but now when my friends smoke it doesn't seem to bother me. I am slightly nervous about using gum instead of patches, i've tried the lozenges and they tasted disgusting:(. Anyone reccomend any somewhat tasty gums to use? Great Job~that's awesome, we're all very proud of you. You're done with the most intense part. The dreams are normal, you know our subconsious minds are used to smoking all the time, and our dreams are meant to fix the problems that we had during the day. So if we're having cravings-wouldn't it be natural to give into them in our dreams? Did you wake up happy that it was only a dream? About the NRT, somedays i want them more than others. Just make a consious decision before you stop using them. Don't want to quit early just to go back to smoking. Getting addicted to a patch or the gum is really rare, not much to worry about. Keep up the good work. Remember N.O.P.E! I had very vivid dreams and lots of them in the beginning, and i hadn't used the patch, i think it may be a quit thing. I did use some gum, probably about 8 pcs in total, too. Just in case. Good Luck in heck week, easier than hell week, but not as easy as it is going to get. Stay strong! Congrats on making it through hell week!!! You're doing great so far!!! I'm gonna bet that you will probably have some craves or urges when you quit the patch, but they shouldn't be as severe!! You'll just have to breath deep, grit your teeth and get through them the best you can when you're ready! If you are wanting to try to get off of the patch early, maybe you could get some of the gum and only chew it as needed to get you through. Just a thought!! Good luck on whatever you choose to do with the NRT thing. What ever you do is great as long as you don't choose lighting up! Congrats Hellokitty! Yup, likely, you will experience a few days of adjustment as your body decreases it's level of nicotine from 7 to 0. The dreams are normal and likely related to wearing the patch at night. Keep persevering! Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator

I hope that once I stop taking NRT (I don't want to go the full 7 weeks with it) I won't crave cigarettes. I have found that I don't really miss the nicotine as much as I miss the pleasure of just smoking. Inhaling and exhaling, etc. My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/31/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 140 Amount Saved: $42.21 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 25 Seconds: 28

Hi kitty, Congratulations on making it through Hell week...I stopped using my NRT last Wednesday and have not had one craving. Everyone is different though so I'm not sure how you will feel. Now you are in Heck week and it starts getting easier. Stay close to the site, the people and experts here are the best. And just remember, N.O.P.E. (Not one Puff ever)!!! I quit cigs last monday, and now it's a new monday! i went out this weekend, got drunk, and did not have one cig! However, I do dream about them which is weird i guess. I have a question, once I stop taking NRT (patches) am I going to want a cigarette??
