I love this topic. Ladies, not smoking has nothing to do with it. LOL Terry My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/17/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 45 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 450 Amount Saved: $67.50 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 5 Mins: 16 Seconds: 49

Great Support Everyone! Make sure you do check with your doctor to rule out anything medical :) Josie, Health Educator

Hot flashes? Did someone say hot flashes???? They started out as "warm moments", and have now become full fledged hot flashes!!!! I prefer to call them "tropical moments", it sounds so much nicer. I'll be 50 in July, so there you go...menopausal. They could partly be the quit as well, I'm not sure. We're only in the beginning stages of spring, and I have my fan set up in the living room. And I've already put it to good use. So many things go on when we quit smoking. Our bodies are healing from the 4,000 chemicals we pumped into them on a daily basis! Keep the quits going strong, Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/27/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 66 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,650 Amount Saved: $561.00 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 14 Mins: 12 Seconds: 2

When I tried quitting a couple of years ago, the night sweats finally led me to the doctor at about 2 months. I was prescribed something for that and they went away, but I also went back to smoking. During this quit, I experienced the same night sweats and prolonged sleep disturbances which took me to the doctor at about 4 months. I asked for sleeping aid (which doesn't work), and she sent me to be tested for sleep apnea. I know I don't have sleep apnea...why....because I'M NOT SLEEPING. Anyway, at 8 months, I continue with sleep disturbances, extreme fire flashes (they are not just hot), and night sweats. I have determined that there is a cyclical nature. So me thinks this is not a quitting smoking thing anymore. Yup, I'm 45. Call the doctor. I'm there soon. Oh so funny! Men don't understand the hot flash thing. Air conditioning only serves to freeze us out once it's over. We are just not going to be happy until the darn things are done torturing us. Judy you don't show your age but Meg you are at that age. I bet it's menapause. I've had these nasty symptoms for quite some time so I don't know if quitting causes that or not since I have been experiencing these for a long long time. They do seem to be much worse in the last couple of months though. I know insomnia is a side affect but I don't believe the sweats are. I'm not absolutely certain about this.. but I am sure I read it somewhere in the older threads that the sweating is a way for the toxins to leave your body. I'm quite sure that someone with more days under their belts will come by and answer the night sweats question in detail. If you are a woman and coming into the age of menopause that could be one of the reasons for night sweats/hot flashes as well. Anyway as I said someone wise and wonderful will address this question :) Peace :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 28 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 560 Amount Saved: $252.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 6 Mins: 3 Seconds: 23

Meg and Judy I also have night sweats and mild hot flashes but the hot flashes may be from age as I am 4o I hope they are both from getting rid of the poison in my body leaving ?
