Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (thoughts)

Figured I'd revive this thread. Mine has been bothering me on and off lately. I took a yoga class tonight in addition to my workout, and it really did me some good. I think about my OCD now and remember my worst moments with it were always in the winter as a child. I have had moments lately where I eel like I am breaking out of it and then it returns for a little bit. I know it has a lot to do with being on less meds. Anyone else have OCD worse in the winter? Lately I have been obsessing about fear of dying. Had that one a while. Sometimes it comes back and I obssess over it for a while. I used to get OCD a lot on Sunday nights as a child. next day was school. Now I get it sometimes before I go back to work after some time off. David

journey, You may wish to speak to your doctor about this. They can give you a series of tests to pinpoint certain areas. This may better help assess the situation. Hope this helps, Josie ______________________________ The Panic Center Support Team.

I am attempting to self diagnose a bit. Can someone help shed some light on OCD for me, interms of actions? I lapse into sometimes hours of picking at my skin while the OCD thoughts occur. It does not necessarily match up with the "repetitive actions" like hand washing, but is this the same kind of thing?

Do I ever have OCD! I've had it for years. I have the checking things, making sure that doors are locked, lights are out, water is turned off, etc. I used to have a fear of not being able to fall asleep, now it's back again. Sometimes I feel as though I'm never going to get past this junk. I also have a fear of being alone in my own home while my husband's at work. I don't know how to act, etc. I usually end of driving to my parents or grandmas. I also have lupus and fibromyalgia. Wonderful huh? Not. LOL. Any advice for a "checker"? Stacey

Great advice and that has worked well for me in the past and stll does. The gym helps me with OCD. When nothing else works, valium is the "closer," to use baseball lingo. LOL. OCD can be really painful, but I had it on meds and off meds. That should tell you something about meds. I am a health freak and have had more success with natural methods and eating natural/organic foods than any anti-depressants. Anti-depressants made me gain weight, sleep too mch and become lazy. I am now in amazing physical shape and doing well, except for the occasional anxiety problem, which we all know a lot about. Thanks for the message, David

Just wanted to assure you that obsessive thinking patterns are just a part of anxiety. Mainly they are forms of distractions Sometimes when things (maybe we are not even aware of)bother is we get stuck in thinking the same things over and over again. sometimes we let those thoughts scare us so we think about them more in hopes of thinking something that will relive us, When you find yourself thinking in circles it should be a cue to you that its obsessive when your thinking in circles jump out. Just let them come as will just refuse to give them any power. its just part of anxiety . We give things power when we let it scare us. Refuse to do that.

Does anyone have a form or a lot of trouble with OCD? I know when many people hear this condition they oftne think of switching light switches on and off, counting steps, several other things. I had many of these when I was younger, but my OCD morphed into thought patterns, and when accompanied by anxiety, it's a strange combination. Does anyone have any stories with OCD and how they may have found ways to conquer it. I feel my main areas revolved around anxiety mixed with OCD. I'm looking for natural methods. I have found ways to deal with it, but would love any feedback. David
