So Spaced Out!

I know the feeling well. Mine is I try and concentrate and all I want to do is listen, but the attention span is lacking and I end up having to ask the person to repeat what they said. I have had the blues on and off the past few weeks. There are days where I feel perfectly fine and I can concentrate and be in a room full of people and not have a problem. Then, just the other night, I was at my gym and following my shoulder workout, we were discussing movies and someone mentioned a movie from the mid'1980s and I had a swift moment of depersonalization. Talk about spacey. This one was really uncomfortable and I am still a little rattled from it. I know I will recover, but since that moment I have been up and down like a ladder. This is a tough time of year for most, no? I have many things that upset me in the fall/winter. My mother died in Nov. of 1976, the whole lack of sunlight thing, the shorter days. Holidays also depress me for some reason. My anxiety level is also high which might account for the depersonalization. OK, enough of my whining. We are all in this together and I love having a place to come to vent. I have been off prozac for 1 1/2 years and off triavil since September. Seems the triavil may have been the one that I needed for that long. I feel now that the prozac only made me gain weight. Has anyone else taken triavil? I was on such a small dosage. Now I take valium when needed. But sometimes I wait too long. Anyway, I'm interested to learn more from anyone wo has any advice. It has been a while since I posted. Since being off meds my workouts have been amazing and I feel more awake and more invlved in life. But as you know the panic and anxiety can be rough. Good thoughts to you all, David

CanadianMel The spacy-lightheaded feeling is my only problem with anxiety anymore. I'm not afriad of having a panic attack but I'm afraid of this feeling. I just want to be normal again. Is that how you feel? Trust me, I'm in the same boat. :8o:

I've heard of that book so many times. And I've read it quoted in some of the books I bought. I find myself wanting to read the very latest published book, but this is a classic and after browsing the chapters on Amazon.com it highlights and some things I find particularly difficult. So, I've waited long enough. I'm gonna buy it :) . Thanks for the recommendation. I plan to be back with comments after I read it.

I also have had these symptons and the best place that I could suggest and has helped me is Claire Weeks Hope and Help for your nerves book. If you go to page 79 go down to Tricks of Vision, For dizzness see page 53 called Giddeness and for A Feeling of Unreality see page 120 thru 126. The book sells for around $6.00. I would quote the book, but not sure that were allowed to do that on this site. I hope it can shed some light on your questions and bring some relief as it has for me. If you have any feed back after reading it let me know. Would make a good discussion. My hope is for only the best for all of US!

Me too, for the last week or so I've had trouble focusing, spacingness. Anixousness sure does keep me guessing with which symptom is going to get to me the most. Glad to hear I'm not alone! Thanks for everyone posting on this.

I get all of those symptoms, too. As well as feeling like my legs will give out and I'll end up in a heap on the floor. Any coping suggestions for that? Sarah :)

I get that too. Mainly my anxiety manifests itself as chest wall pain, but number two is the dizz, light headed, whatever you want to call it. Trouble focusing, feel like you're off balance, not quite yourself. Yep, I know that feeling. As weird as may seem, I don't let that one get to me. It will eventualy pass, and if I focus on what I am looking at or doing, it seems to fade away. Hang in there.

Okay, so what is with the spaciness, sometimes for no reason I feel totally spaced out like people can be talking to me and I am hearing them but no hearing them, or like i'm dizzy, my vision gets blurry and I feel totally out of it, like I might even fall over. Sometimes it last for an hour or sometimes all day! like I'm waling around like a zombie just going about my daily tasks.... sooooooooooooo annoying. I never know when it's going to hit..Does anyone else have this or know why it happens? Sometimes it feels like I'm just going to fade out
