Thanks for your reply, it seems that its kind of a silly thing, but perhaps you're right and I will build up my level of fear acceptance this way....thanks...

Hi Redface, I built myself up slowly when doing those exposure exercises. It certainly helped me, I noticed a big reduction in panic once I learned to trust my body's reaction. Sure was difficult to start with though, still is sometimes. I think this step in the program is a very important one. Such a weight off your load when you don't fear physical sensations as much. I still fear a lot of things, physical sensations included. But in retrospect it's so much better than it was. I think this exposure work has had a lot to do with it.

I tried almost all the exposure methods of the Panic Program, and found that Hyperventilating, Spinning in a chair, and Holding my Breath were the worse ones to bring out my panic symptoms out of the twelve that I tried. Especially Hyperventilating, caused dizziness, panic, and my face turned beet red. It was so difficult to do the spinning in a chair that I could only do it for 20 seconds, instead of the suggested one minute. I could only hold my breath for 20 seconds instead of the suggested 30 seconds. You are supposed to expose yourself to these experiences five times in a day. How is it going for anyone else? Did these exercises help you to face the physical aspect of panic attacks and are you doing much better now?
