Sheesh, leave it to me to start a thread and ignore it for a week! I've been to busy washing lettuce to post I guess ;) I had to laugh, troll, er., I mean Legend ;) x2 at:
I'm not going to spend the rest of my life trying to visualize plain brown rice into cordon bleu, either.
At any rate, I've come to the conclusion that with the program of relatively healthy living I'm following, the deterioration of my girlish figure (yea right) will stop one of these days and begin to turn itself around. I figure 20 years of training my body how NOT to absorb nutrients won't change in a mere four months; I'll probably still pick up a few pounds. And you know what? I really think I can deal with that. I'd rather be a bit of a porker than a stinky beanpole with dark circles under my eyes and grey skin. Ok, I've never been THAT thin but you get the drift! In the interim, I'm sprucing up my wardrobe, changing my hairstyle, otherwise reinventing myself into the new, non-smoking Todash. I'll get slimmer soon enough. Then of course, I'll get pregnant which will throw yet another spanner in the works. There's an advert on for one brand of patch here in the UK that has the tag line 'lose the smoke, keep the fire' and shows this really together, gorgeous, self-confident woman going about without a smoke in her hand. I'd much rather visualise myself as 'the new me' than plain brown rice into cordon bleu! Now where did I put that vegetable scrubber... x T My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 121 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,797 Amount Saved: 665.5 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 5 Mins: 35 Seconds: 6

I've been doing this detox diet my chiropractor put me on. It is slowly turning the ship around, and I have to say that right now I'm feeling healthier than I have in years. Literally. I've combined it with a heavy workout schedule, and while I may still look like a troll, I'm beginning to feel like a greek god. The other thing is that about 3 days into the game, the horrible sleeping problems I was having ever since I quit just disappeared. Gone. Initially, I was really worried about two things: One, the problem of dealing with hunger. Low blood sugar is one of my triggers (In fact, that was how I started--I was hungry, didn't have time to get food, grabbed a pack of smokes from the vending machine....God how I hate that day) and I have always used cigs as an appetite suppressant. The second problem was that I would have to quit using chewing gum (the regular variety, not NRT) as a crave-beater. Actually, it worked out really, really well. My craves are all head games now, and I'm learning how to deal with them on a different level. I'm beginning to feel very energetic. More powerful, but lighter at the same time. I think dumping all of the toxins from years of smoking out of my body was a good thing to do, and at least for me, has helped me along with my quit. I have another week on the diet, and then we'll see...I won't go back to the old way of eating, but I'm not going to spend the rest of my life trying to visualize plain brown rice into cordon bleu, either. There's only so much willpower to go around, and at this point I need to keep my eye on the next brass ring...The Beach. Smoking does do a number on our bodies! Check with your doctor to come up with a plan that is right for you and your body! Use water, low calorie snacks and veggies, if you feel the need to snack. Use those decadent treats as a reward once a week! Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.

Todash, You are so right. Just looking at the food or thinking about eating it and boom it is right there on my hips. What a way to find out the real amount of calories in my food! You see, a smoker and ex-smoker can eat the same thing but the caloric content and propensity to weight gain vastly differ. Want some lettuce? Healthy option? Not sure. You see, because it seems that now the caloric content of 1 piece of lettuce = that of 2 chocolate chip cookies. Continuing on... 2 chocolate chip cookies = 3 course steak dinner 3 course steak dinner = 4 large cheese pizzas (One glance at the cheeze pizzas = actually eating two of them) 4 large cheese pizzas = A tub of sour cream, 14 Twix bars, a half gallon of lard and a strawberry shake. Oh, and 16 avocados. I swear this is true. How else could I be gaining weight at such an alarming rate! :8o: x T My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 117 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,696 Amount Saved: 643.5 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 20 Mins: 42 Seconds: 8
