Tony, The desire may be strong but what is important is that you do not give in to those desires. Like you, the thought of starting over keeps me from smoking. I don't ever want to repeat those first couple of months. You will have bad days here and there. You just need to hang on tight and not give up. One day at a time and know that it passes. Eventually, you will no longer even think of smoking. I never thought it possible but it really is. Keep going! You are doing great! Hi Tony, what do you mean "I would if I had to?" What could possibly force you to give up an addiction that you've fought so hard to overcome? Yes, sometimes we have rough spots. But non-smokers do, too. Isn't it interesting that people who don't smoke don't automatically think "I need a smoke" when something happens in their lives? That can be you, too. Acknowledge that thought and then let it go. It isn't worth hanging onto anymore. Besides, even though you may want one, are you willing to accept all the others that will surely come with that one? Because there's no such thing as "just one." Good for you for making it through!
