morning panic

That's odd. I, too, not really hear songs, but sing them in my head. Often they even can get stuck. Funny though, because I know that others have this, I've never felt it particularly odd, in any carzy sort of way. I think when one has a busy mind (as I do) all kinds of things pop in it, even songs. What a wonderful way to distract the negative thoughts from entering, you know? I don't experience so much morning panic but I am extremely aware that the minute I get up, I'm the type of person to hit the ground running, even BEFORE coffee. This morning I woke up an hour before I was supposed to get up, so I just lay there and tried to clear my mind, and gradually, through self-talk drifted in and out of sleep. I also made a concerted effort that when I got up, I was going to slow myself down...and I DID!!! I don't know why I feel as though I need to rush through everything. I always have plenty of time to get ready for work. I'm almost thinking now, that when I wake early, I may just get up and turn on the TV or something like that to ease myself into my morning routine, instead of going 100 miles per hour...anyone else experience this..? It's not really panic, but a huge burst of energy....

morning panic and anxiety has been pretty usual for me lately. i get that cold feeling and then the heart racing and breathing gets short. i really have to concentrate and not let it get out of hand. nurseboy you might want to chill out on the coffee, i have and it helps out alot. the mornings and the nights are hard for me, daytime for the most part is ok, at least i can distract myself during the day, the down time is tough.

Hi Taz thanks for responding my anxiety in the morning usually starts with tingling or numbness in my hands then the breathing and dizziness. I also have songs in my head along with thoughts. I keep insisting to my doctor that I'm going crazy but she says i'm not and so did the phsychiatrist. Does anyone else have this song thing?

My panic hits me first thing in the morning because i think "i have to put up with this all day long!". Add some coffee and 2-3 hours later the panic is increased because of the caffeine! It settles a little in the early afternoon when i am tired and then the second wind of panic!

mornings seem to be the worst time for alot of people who suffer from panic. It always would hit me first thing in the morning like a ton of bricks. You know that awful feeling of dread and sadness you feel when someone has died and you wake up in the morning and have everything come rushing back into your mind, that's how I always felt when my symptoms were at there worst. I hated having to get up knowing I had to deal with the fear and worry all day long. Usually once I got up and started my day though things would subside somewhat because all of my coping mechanisms would begin to come back to me and I would do my breathing and positive thinking. I guess we are most vulnerable mentally when we first wake up because when your still groggy from sleep it's hard to focus and my mind would take over and I would panic before I could reign it back in. Once you master all of the tools you need to beat this disorder the morning anxiety will go away because your coping skills pop into your mind before the anxiety does.

Hi Rhonddaro. Don't know if I can help really but I sometimes, well quite often lately, get early morning panic attacks/anxiety. They're usually brought about because as soon as I wake up I wonder what situations I'll find myself in that day and basically make myself apprehensive about it all. I usually get dizziness first and my breathing speeds up sometimes with palpatations. I always get physical symptoms like stomach aches nausea etc with the anxiety. I don't go into a panic attack as such but definately get anxious and shaky and also find it difficult to concentrate, sometimes my mind races. Do you get any of these types of symptoms as I would also like to know if anyone else gets this in the morning.
