Weight gain...

Hey Tutti - When they do the abs class at the gym, the teacher often says "Okay...pretend you are putting on a really tight pair of jeans"...So don't despair...Every time you put on those jeans, you are EXERCISING!! There's another one where you are supposed to pretend that you have a hundred dollar bill in your butt....but I'm not sure that you should try this one at home.. Okay, I was little. I mean really little. But now, I've gained 13 lbs. in just a little over a month!!! Oh, my jeans still fit but I have to do the "Elvis" dance to pull them up over my thighs and @ss!! You know what I mean.....The "Elvis" dance where your wiggling your entire pelvic area back and forth, then side to side like mad while pulling the belt loops on your jeans at the same time. Then you have to straighten out the pockets of your jeans with a wire coat hanger because you can't get your hand in them AT ALL. Then you have to wipe the sweat off of your face because you've just had one hell of a work out. If I don't get serious about my diet, I'll have to add another step to getting my britches on and that's.....laying down flat on the bed to ZIP UP and hopefully not getting my underwear hung up in the zipper. Okay, I'm really watching my diet CLOSELY today and I'll be a lot more active. Today IS the day. ;) Stay Strong, Tutti My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/18/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 75 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,392 Amount Saved: $269.25 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 23 Mins: 34 Seconds: 42

Windy, I had to laugh...NUTTY BUDDIES!! They were on sale and I bought them. I actually have a carving for them....LOL I had to put them in the freezer down stairs so I won't eat them. I'm too lazy to go get one down stairs. LOL It is wonderful that you have it all together. Wow...234 days. Great job..... it motivates others!!!! Windy, You've made some great progress throughout the past year! Members, When making any lifestyle change, it is easier to do so in a slow step wise fashion. Remember, baby steps. Danielle ______________________ The SSC Support Team

mercy - you are always welcome in the conversation. I gained 10 lbs when I first quit smoking (I was kinda discouraged...I would eat breakfast..go to the gym....go through the drive thru...eat breakfast again...lunch...supper...nutty buddies) I gotta say I did enjoy that eating part! When I first started changing my eating habits, I would go through the drive thru for my coffee and they would say "Do you want a breakfast sandwich with that?" and I would think "YES...GOSH DARNIT%$@@#### SO PLEASE STOP ASKING!!" I have bought a scale and i understand what portion size is...I just have such a hard time eating such a tiny wee bit of food. In my next life, I'm going to be dainty and delicate and I'm going to eat finger sandwiches and never say bad words. Hi you two, I don't mean to budge in on your conversation....but I had put on just a few pounds when I quit. I went into a little panic. I was eating mostly organic....and had been sliping with that. I went back to organic a little more strick (i was never fanatical)...and ate a VERY small dinner. More like a snack. I ate allot during the day.....but I think weight has something to do with not eating much in the evening time. Windy, that is SUCH a brilliant loss and even withOUT it, that change in lifestyle is what I admire most. I haven't quite managed that yet! lol I haven't put on any weight since I shook off what I gained when I first quit. I add a couple of pounds here and there, then I take them off again. Progress will be when I finally start to make some permanent changes to the lifestyle. that's what I'd like to do next. But for now, I am coping with a brand new job (steep learning curve for my old brain) and still working on my house. it takes time. Most important bit is staying with the quit. But I think of your fantastic progress often and think "Gosh I must follow that lead and make those changes". Brilliant! Serenity - It is so nice to hear from you. I just checked in for a sec while at work and saw your message. This has certainly been a year of firsts - First time I quit smoking, first time I tried eating healthy, first time I swam lengths and my first mini-triathalon. Today I went running with a group from the gym at the golf course. So far.......down 22 lbs since December...5 more lbs to go to reach my final destination. So there have been lots of good things happening. I'd be lying if I didn't say that there have been times when I was down in the dumps & times where I was close to losing my quit....But I'm slugging along and enjoying the sun, the fresh air and my new lungs. How are you??? don't get on much these days. Never seem to find the time. But just wondered how you were doing with the weight/fitness thang? You are/were such an inspiration.
