I dunno i cant stop thinking about it... Im writing a paper for school and I guess just the sitting part is what made me cave...just not doing anything but writing... I think what I may need to do in the future is rather then grabbing a cigarette, im going to do stick my face out the window and grab some fresh air...? Hey Mellers - every time you think that you want to smoke one, read about what cigarettes and nicotine do to your body (and others.) I read about it every day just as a reminder. Helps me, maybe it will help you too. By the way, I gave you the gold star for being honest! Good luck to you - we can all do this if we REALLY want to. Mellers- I suggest reading the book by Allen Carr, The Easy Way To Stop Smoking!! It has helped me like nothing else has. Hang in there... it will get better -Rhonda My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 30 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 918 Amount Saved: $180 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 21 Mins: 40 Seconds: 35

Mellers, Are you really ready to quit smoking? Do you REALLY want this? If so, then treat this quit as though your life depended on it... BECAUSE IT DOES!!! This is YOUR LIFE that we're talking about! Are you ready to fight for it? Quitting means NOPE - Not One Puff Ever. "Just one" leads to "just one more" which leads to "just one pack" which leads to "just one carton," etc... There's no such thing as "just one" if you want to quit smoking. Oh sure, that next one might not come for a while, but once you start the pattern for letting yourself have one once in a while, it will be SO much easier to do it again... and again... and again. Now, it's EXTREMELY important that you make a plan for next time. Now that you've done it once, it will be MUCH harder to stay quit. I'm speaking from experience here... trust me... I KNOW! So now, sit yourself down and make a plan for what you will do the next time you're bored and want a cigarette... or you're having a really bad craving... or you're out with friends and everybody's smoking... or something really bad happens and you just "have" to smoke. There will inevitably be MANY times when that little voice in your head will talk to you and you've got to be ready for it. What will you do? Your plan should start with "before I smoke, I must..." and include at least 3 things that you will do before you smoke. Probably the most important one on the list is come here and post FIRST!!!!! Not after you smoke... post BEFORE it happens! Other things could include read your reasons for quitting, take a walk, call a friend who supports your quit, email/IM a quit buddy, etc... Make a plan and stick to it. It's the ONLY way to successfully quit smoking. Quitting isn't easy and you are LITERALLY fighting for your life! Are you ready? Crave the Quit! Hello mellers - Coping skills - distractions.... these are paramount for a successful, focused and grounded quit. Take some time and read old posts here... Stay close to this site and just read... Then read more. Smoking is always a choice - and this journey is one challenging walk... but it can be done... Read, read, and read more. And no matter what - no smoking. I posted on another thread of yours about the voices in my head. They had been driving me crazy for the 1st couple of days. One side trying to talk you into smoking the other side trying to save you. I have discovered today that acceptance is a key to this too. You have to either accept that you don't smoke and don't want to or keep wanting to quit...does that make sense?
