Nicotine gum and dentures just dont go together so you end up trying to chew the darn stuff without the dentures and then your gums start aching,I know the instructions say to chew it for 30 minutes but was wondering what happens if you just swallow the stuff after chewing it for just a few minutes?nothing?.And no i dont want to use the patch.

I tried the gum once and they are right. Chew a couple of times then put it between your cheek and your gums. It will make a warm feeling but that is the nicotine going through your skin. If that don't work, then you could always cold turkey it. I tried them all, gum, patches, lozenges, pills, sprays, and even hypnitized. Nothing, so went cold turkey and not only saved money from the cigarettes but from the NRT's too. Good luck and keep posting and reading. I don't beleive the instructions say to chew for 30 minute. I think you are supposed to chew for a few minutes to soften it up then park it in your gums for a while then give another chew to release nic then park it somewhere else. I would never swallow it. good luck. [/quote] Nicotine gum doesn't get along very well with a lot of dental work, however, some brands can work better than others. I wouldn't just swallow the gum -- chewing the gum is how the nicotine is released into your system. Simply swallowing it, isn't going to allow that to happen, and also may cause some problems in your stomach or intestinal tract. I understand you don't want to use the patch, but have you considered using lozenges? They shouldn't be a problem with your dentures, yet have similiar a similiar success rate to the gum.
