Drinking, socialising, & the hermit

Hi everyone! Tonight I ventured out of my cocoon. I do tend to be some what of a homebody, but when I do go out I am very sociable. Well I think I am experiencing my first day of depression. I really don't like anybody right now, and would prefer to be alone. Anyone else feel like this? So we (my boyfriend and I) went over to his friends house and I didn't want to smoke, or maybe I should say I don't want to be a smoker (that is more accurate statement of my feelings). And I really didn't want to drink either. Partly because my G.I system is still really out of wack. and partly maybe because.....I really don't think I wanted to be there.....I think I just went to get out of the house for a while. I don't like myself like this, in this mood. I am going to go think about positive things, and do a gratitude list. bye :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/6/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 343 Amount Saved: $77.9 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 12 Mins: 49 Seconds: 37

I think you're evolving as you come out of your cocoon. You want to live a certain way, be a certain way. You may not be clear on the details, but they are comming to you in terms of elimination - what you don't want. This is a long journey you are on and may involve some difficulties - but I believe that in the end it will all be worth it and you will emerge a butterfly. Pea, We all go through changes during our quit. I personally preferred to get out as often as possible - Quite the opposite of you, but that's just it, everyone's quit is personal and very unique! I still haven't been able to have a drop of liquor or even a beer. Was never a 'drinker' to start with, but even when I've gone out for dinner and a friend is having a drink I pass on it and have a spring water with a twist of lime. Just take it all in stride hon. Don't be too hard on yourself - Look at what you have accomplished so far! WOW! You are doing fantastic! And yes, a gratitude list is a great thing to create. It reminds us of all the wonderful things we have in our lives :) Stay strong and take it all one moment, one day at a time :) ((((((((((hugs))))))))) Monica58 My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 44 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 886 Amount Saved: $396 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 23 Mins: 32 Seconds: 58

Pea, The good news is...your moods will even out. This is all so normal and all so temporary. When you feel this way, lay low. I can remember spending a lot of time in front of the TV in the beginning. I even had trouble making supper! I can do that now. I play darts every Friday evening and would usually have a couple of coolers. Since I've quit, I'm drinking diet pop. I have no desire for a drink. It just doesn't feel the same without a cigarette, and so, I don't want it. Hang in there, you're doing great!!!! All the best to you, Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 43 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,304 Amount Saved: $387 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 21 Mins: 16 Seconds: 7

I think you had your answer right under you nose (you know, the one that works now!) Pea, you are going to go through a whole range of situations which you must now face as a non smoker, AND THAT IS EXCITING !! Dont be discouraged because you were not into it this time. I remember going to good friends house for dinner 24 hours after I started my quit, and it was like I was not there !! It's o.k ! you dont have to be the life of the party. You are going through some big changes and it is going to take some adjusting. Time will heal, and as your confidence in yout quit builds you will find that you return to "normal". and you can do all those things that you used to do. Good luck Pea, stay strong. Pea, This is normal, but please don't ignore it. It is always a good idea to talk with your doctor to rule out anything medical and for assistance. Make sure you also take some you time and relax yourself at night, this way each day is started fresh and positive :) Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
