Bianca, it has been a tremendous help for me. There is a website you can go to to take a test to see if you are a highly sensitive person and the book can be ordered through that site. Also I purchased a women's daily devtional bible that really gives me guidance and comfort.

Hi Pamela Thanks for letting me know about this book. There are indeed many things in my childhood that I have not delat with completely. I came to accept those things as that which I cannot change but which I can learn from. Maybe it is a good idea to start working through that as well.

Bianca, someone on here suggested reading the book the highly sensitive person by elaine aron. I have been reading it for a few days now and it has helped me to understand myself alot. It seems those of us who are highly sensitive have had things happen to us during our childhoods that cause our nervous systems to become overwhelmed. If our primary caregiver wasn't available for us when we were infants and our nervous systems become overwhelmed we never learn to cope and as life's daily stresses mount up the highly sensitive person is more likely to experience anxiety and depression. The book shows you how to go back and re learn how to deal with your sensitive nervous system. Maybe this would be helpful for you to try.

Thank you very much for your repsonses. I'm not yet sure whether I will explore the dianetics avenue as it all sounded too good to be true to me. I am in the fourth week of the panic program now and it is going well with the exposure work. I must admit, though, the mere thought of some of the situations that I have set goals for, makes me very very nervous. I am giving the CBT a fair chance though and don't want to confuse myself by doing that and going for Dianetics counsiling at the same time.

I have also been reading about Dianetics Bianca and Betty. I have found that Dianetics and Scientology are two different spiritual aspects. Dianetics uncovers the source of unwanted sensations and emotions, accidents, injuries and psychosomatic illnesses, and sets forth effective handlings for these conditions. Further research into the spiritual aspects of Dianetics led to the discovery of Scientology. Scientology, on the other hand, is the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, to universes and to other life. Through the practice of Scientology one can increase his spiritual awareness and ability and realize his own immortality Hope this helps? Melanie (Information obtained from The Church Of Scientology)

Hello Bianca, I wanted to wait a couple days to see if anyone else responded to you before I did. A read a bit of Dianetics about a year or so ago, and I had a hard time with it, but I did think it was kind of weird. I know I should be more open minded, but it did seem strange to me. BUT - if you find it is helping you and not harming anyone else, then more power to you. If I'm not mistaken, I think Dianetics is related to Scientology - maybe more people will know about that. Sorry I couldn't be of help.

Hi Has anyone tried Dianetics before and if so, what is the success rate? I recently bought a dianetics book by Ron L Hubbard which claims to cure one from everything from anxiety to depression. The book was very difficult to read and over the weekend I saw a Dianetics video. The latter made more sense. The technique involves taking the sufferer to specific incidents in his/her life until the trigger is found. Dianetics claims that this trigger is stored in the reactive mind and once it is found, it is released and the sufferer is then free from whatever hampered specific behaviour. I'd appreciate it if anyone who has tried this, will share his/her experience.
