Mackscc, You have come to the right place! Please continue to share your thoughts with us. There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you. We are all a group of individuals who support each other. We look forward to hearing more from you in the future. If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests. These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. We also have developed a Panic Program. This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above. Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead. These tests may or may not be for you but they are "free". If you have any question or concerns with our €œTOOLS€, you can contact us at support@paniccenter.net. We are the Support Specialist for The Panic Center and are open to any questions or concerns you may have. I would also check the dosages your taking, with your doctor, as well as confront him with the "long bath and love making " comments. I agree that this is a little odd. As a doctor he should be able to explain himself. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Josie

Hello, all. I just stumbled across this site, and discussion. It's right up my alley. I was just diagnosed with panic disorder and depression, (been dealing with it for a while). I have problems falling to sleep w/o meds. My psychiatrist put me on 1 mg klonapin at bedtime, with some strange instructions. He told me to take it after I make love and take a bath, just before going to sleep. Now, my first question is, was it appropriate for him to say that? Is there a reason he gave those specific instructions? It doesn't put me right to sleep anyway, so, am I taking it wrong? I've taken .5 mg for acute anxiety in the past, and that helped but this new program, (klon at night and working my way up to 300mg effexor, coming off zoloft)doesn't seem to be helping much. Any advice you can pass on would be great! Thank you, and good night.

I also have problems falling asleep recently. As soon as I try to get to sleep I think of something tramatic that had just occured to me, then I get the hot flashes and racing heart from it and there goes my sleep. I've been on meds for the 2 weeks to help me sleep. And even when I take the sleeping pills, I only get about 3-4 hours of sleep a night, and sometimes the pills don't work so I don't get any sleep. I went to a local hospital emergency room to get a heavy med to put me out a couple of nights ago but that only gave me 5 hours of sleep and then when I woke up I was walking into walls. I've had to take some time off of work until I can get the panic/sleeping problem under control. One night I had to take pills 3 times to get me thru the night and I KNOW that can't be good for you. I was on Paxil 10 mg and just upped it to 20 mg to hopefully get things under control. Eldon

I have been suffering from Panic attacks for 7 years although I kinda have it under control at the moment.I find it really hard to sleep and when I'm stressed I wake up 'dead'. Then as soon as I fall back to sleep it happens again. It only seems to happen in the stages of just dropping off. I'll suddenly become aware that I'm not breathing and sit up gasping for air. When I've been asleep for a while is when I get the sensation that I've died. I wake up suddenly like before except because I'm have asleep It feels like I've died until I wake up fully. I haven't experienced the sleep paralasis. I have noticed though that this only happens when I've been panicing more often.

I'm so glad to know that others are terrified of falling asleep.I fear I'll stop breathing,my heart will stop beating , that i'll never wake up, or if I do wakeup in the middle of the night, It's normally followed by a panic attack. I have this panic for 6 years now and each time it resurfaces, it comes with a new fear.At one point it was waiting in line, I would begin shaking and sweating. I rarly made it to the grocery or movies. Then it was closed spaces and then heights. Now that I've overcome those things and the panic has hit again, it's the falling asleep problem. Anyone else experience this weird cycle of fears?

Yep. I can't fall asleep because I lay there afraid of not being able to sleep too. It is so frusterating. Had it before -- it eventually gets better -- but then it comes back! It's ridiculous -- this never ending cycle of panic and anxiety. It makes you feel like a real mental case. That's why I go on the message boards - it helps me to know I'm not alone at least. My quality of life is pretty stinky because of this and no doctors have a clue what to say or do. Medication only works for a while then it stops working. It stinks!!!!

Thanks. I am PRAYING for a good night sleep tonight. Also, back to another post, has anyone ever experienced their eyeballs twitching when they read? This is happening to me lately. I will be reading and they willsort of twitch real fast. I am wondering if itis the ativan or frommy surgery. I had a spinal cord surgery that started this whole anxiety thing...

Bella, I am so sorry to hear your having it that bad. I know what it feels like to think your losing your mind. But your not, the anxiety has just built up to a really high level. I take half of a .05 mg. klonopin but I'm at a different stage in my recovery then you. I would call my doctor if I were you and ask if you can take a lower dose and if you can take it during the day. Any side effects will subside after you've been on it a few days. If you ever want to talk you can e-mail me at gph1987@comcast.net.
