I agree - I would ask the friend to please not smoke in the room. But I would also have a drink. Not LOADS of drink, just in case, but I still would have some. It's that deprivation thing already talked about. Take nibbles, or chew on a straw.
I have a smoking friend coming to stay this weekend. Had another here a few weeks back and let her smoke in my house (weather was dreadful for outside smokes) but I felt strong then and it wasn't a prob. This time, it might be so she has to go out.
