Rd Man The Quit and all the Stories

Hi Phillip. Believe it or not, this happens to all of us from time to time. Something sets it off, some old memory or a situation not really sure what but it does happen. The difference between how you feel now and the way things use to be is what you said in your post.
Knowing that I won't smoke no matter what.
These times will pass as well. I believe it to be part of the process. Each day we do what we have to do just as we did in the early part of our quits. We don't give up in times like these because we don't ever want to repeat those early days of madness again. Eventually, when the addiction comes knocking, you will just kind of chukle at like an old dumb knock knock joke or something. A thing of the past that helped contribute to the person you are today. You are a quitter my friend. I hope you feel better soon. Ah yes, the conflict - of life!! Of smoking - when you are smoking you wish you could stop, when you are not smoking you wish you could, unless.....you examine just what it is you are wishing for... with the rational brain. It is a much harder of a struggle when there is doubt. Not sure....Hmmm....maybe some of those that have recently slipped could let you in on how it feels...to have that first one. What do you think? I for one am remembering and I don't like it one bit - the self hate. Perhaps there might be something in this regarding your one year anniversary coming up shortly. What will you do to celebrate. Hmmm....already had the trip.....now what? A renewal of commitment? Some kind of reward? We all have back doors - the tragedy's, the deaths. I, for one am refusing to open the back door, no matter how hard the banging is. I'm shutting out the noise - it's nothing but a bunch of lies. I know you will figure it out....like you have done so well before. Know that I am feeling your pain and wish I could come and take it away. Peace to you. This may not be ann option for you, but When I get sick, I call my MOM. She always knows what to say to make me feel better. You'll feel better soon, and I will tell you (as a Nurse), the flu shot doesn't give you the flu. Take care of you! Hi Phillip, Because of sporadic attendance at the SSC lately, Id missed quite a bit of this thread. Just went back and read this one as well as the others sited (and once again burst out laughing at JR peeing on Bobs foot). What a joy to read where you were and where you are now. My son left for a 5 month stay in Australia last week. The weather here is bizarre. This morning it was 19 degrees F, and Thursday its supposed to be 70! My responsibilities at work have become more involved lately. My daughters schedule is maddening and spills over to me. However, we are all basically well at the moment AND its going to be 70 on Thursday! What a lovely thought. Reading your post of 1.18, I see great introspection. My best friend (who is also a counselor) is like you. She takes everything apart and examines it. You, my friend, will not smoke again. The reason: the things you love (swimming, breathing, and traveling) mean more to you than smoking. The other reason is that you will take apart any desire to smoke and see it for what it really is before ever lighting up. You have shared your tremendous strength with many on this site. I, personally, always receive something good - something worth remembering from all of your posts. Congratulations on a wonderful year of freedom. Youre worth it. Phillip, I wished you well elsewhere and I wish you well here. This is truly a wonderful thread, watching you grow and as hummybird said, pull it all apart and look at it and bring it back together again. I am truly proud of you. Enjoy your camera! River, You will get these days once in awhile, so take the lead and take that day to yourself. Did something happen? Was it a trigger? Take the time to push it away and know you are quit and will not go back! Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
