Wow, you sound just like me...I have stomach problems too. My doctor prescribed Zoloft almost 2 years ago and I was like "NO WAY!" He convinced me to take it anyway. I started off at 50mg and then went up to 100mg. I was convinced it would never help, but it actually has, and I do get some wierd diarreah sometimes that could be from it, but it isn't the kind that sends me into a panic or makes me feel crummy all day. I would encourage you to try it...for me it took quite a while for me to notice the effects, and I have a lack in patience too which doesn't help, but now I realize it was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. Do you take any medications for your stomach condition?

Yall....it's amazing to hear how differently we all react to the SAME meds! I tried Lexapro for 2 weeks but was soooo sick and worse panic as well as anxiety. I am on 50 mg oloft and am doing great. I never had any problems or side affects. Every once in a while I feel like I could go to 75 mg but I am trying to stick with the 50 mg Zoloft and an occaisional Xanax (generic=Alprazolam) if I feel sure an attack is gonna come on. My Dr said the winter months can be tougher if you live in an area with little sunlight (poor weather). He said I could easily go up to 100mg and then back down to 50 in the spring if I want to. It takes about a week for a dosage change to be noticeable so I have just stayed at 50mg. I have to wonder of other meds interfere. Do any of you notice that? I take Synthroid and Aciphex daily. Take care everyone and remember NEVER medicate (or supplement) without your Dr knowing BEFORE you take anything. Can't stress that enough!!!!!!!

Hi Jaci, I was the exact same way when I started taking paxil, really anxious, nauseas and even more spaced out (zombie like). After 2 weeks (maybe closer to 3)I started to feel better. My doctor and pharmacist both said it will make you worse the first while before it starts to work. Try to hang in there. If your still bad after 4 weeks then maybe talk to your doc. I just upped my dose and feel the same way again, like I'm starting all over. Its a pain in the u know what.

Jafloydci, Perhaps you should contact your doctor or pharamcist. You may be having a reaction or side effects. This can be easily corrected by your doctor or pharmacist. Josie _____________________________ The Panic Center Support Team.

I took Zoloft and was one with very little symptoms. Even when I stopped it, I had no side effects. The problem I DID have was that while on Zoloft I got panic attacks (the first ones!) I went to Lexapro. Now, I felt like a total loon for about 2 days but things even out and it worked like a charm for me. It also works faster than the other types of meds that require weeks of being in your system.

I've been taking zoloft for 6 years now. When i first started it, the side effects really bothered me and I wanted to get off of it more than anything. I had stomach pains, was nauseas, etc. After a few weeks though, I felt fine. I truely believe that my panic attacks were greatly reduced bc of Zoloft. Try it for a few months... it just might help

Clairey, I think you should try the Zoloft. I have been taking it for 3 years. I have a terrible fear of taking meds so I truly understand what you are going through. I look at it like this... Life is hell without them so do what ever you can to make it better. It takes any SRI up to 6 weeks to get into your system and begin to really help you. During the first couple of weeks you may experience some mild side effects but they do not last long, dont worry they will go away. Sammi

Hi, I understand your anxiety concerning taking medications because of their side effects. I hate to take anything because of side effects. Zoloft reacts differently for everyone. I took Zoloft for a short while for panic but I didn't give it long enough to work for my panic because I quit taking it due to the side effects. I experienced daily diarrhea, stomach upset, loss of appetite, headaches, sleeplessness and worsened panic I attribute to the side effects. That being said, two of my sisters and a niece take Zoloft and they have no problems whatsoever. In fact, they really like Zoloft and what it has done for them. So it really depends on how your particular body chemistry handles certain medications. You really won't know unless you try it. Like I said, I understand your anxiety about taking it, especially if you fear it will aggravate an already existing problem (Nausea and vomiting). You should discuss this fear with your doctor and maybe you can start on a low dose (25 mg) and take it slow. Just see how it goes for a couple of weeks. That should be enough time for the drug to get into your system to see how you may react to it. Good luck!
