Any Other Diabetics Out There

Having a difficult time controlling sugars. How do you do it? My doctor suggested suar-free juices for detoxing. I pointed out that there are not sugar-free juices, just no sugar added juices. Friends have had problems with all the sorbital I'm ingesting in the hard vitamin c and zinc drops I've been sucking, saying that why I have diarrhea. What are you diabetics doing? BG - I have quit the candy all together - even sugar free, and i have quit the juice as well. When i woke up yesterday morning my fasting was 365. Sorbital causes the runs if you have more than 2 a day anyhow, sot here isn't really any point to haivng it around. Splenda causes a lot of diabetic's sugar to go up, and aritificial sweateners aren't good for you. Your body is under enough stress with the quit - no sense in adding to it with a bunch of crap that you don't need. Take the purist approach - seriously. Water Water Water Water for detoxing. Vegies for the munching, and monito your blood sugar a LOT - everything is going to change now, so find out what your body is doing - write it down - your meds may have to be changed. Luckily I have insuline on hand, and have taking it since I found that 365 ysterday morning. Doctors don't know the first thing about nutrition - if they did, they wouldn't precribe all the pills they do for diet related illness. I overheard my doctor telling a new diabtic that he could have apples and stay away from strawberries - he didn't even know that strawberries are the lowest in sugar of any fruit and apples are the highest. Bgaineshunter, Keep working with your MD. You can try tracking what your eating to see if you can spot any items that may be too high in sugar for you. You can try drinking water and taking deep breaths. You can also go online and look up diabetic candy or you can consult your pharmacist. Most pharmacies usually sell sugar free snacks for diabetics. Keep persevering! Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team
