Itsironic, What was your calorie intake prior to the commencement of your diet? A few tips: Minimize your consumption of refined sugars and fats as opposed to your overall consumption. When you reduced your overall consumption, your body may not be getting all the nutrients or source of energy it needs. It will start to use your stored fat so you'll lose weight but it will also grab hold of anything you put in your mouth because it feels deprived. Continue to slowly increase your activity. Try to aim for a loss of 1/2 - 2 pounds a week, if you lose your weight slowly your metabolism has a chance to adjust. Eat a balanced diet, always. Plan & cook your meals ahead of time. Try six smaller meals instead of three big ones. Have you given any thought to being supervised by a nutritionist? Hope this helps, good luck. Itsironic, I know the feeling, I've gained 15 lbs. I'm gouing to the gym 3 days a week and swimming 2/3 days. I've just started the calorie under 1000 and I've finally starting to lose. Just keep it up and drink plenty of water, Sleep help too. Hi Kare - Congratulations on your LONG quit my pal! Yes, I have gotten a little bit big for my britches and am only a wee bit taller than you at a towering 5'4. So since I can't stop loving sugar, I am on zee treadmill for 2.5 miles 4-5 times a week. It's pretty good exercise, although I don't see big results at the waist line ~ hmm, so maybe this does not help you at all, but I feel better just telling you. I have been "smokin" a lot of food too. (insert frowny face here) I am "fluffier" as my daughter says! But - I cut down on sweets where I can ~ Oh and Kare, here is some Diet Cake I made just for your 1/2 year! Let me know if you come up with something that will work for us, uh, well, I am joining you in the quest for a more toned look! :) Take care and don't forget to reward !!!! (yes mom!) ha ha Hugs, CobenFan My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 112 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,918 Amount Saved: $392 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 10 Mins: 38 Seconds: 34

Hey kids My first time to this section of SSC, but its time. I started my quit venture exactly 6 months ago today. I didn't actually quit totally until Jan 30th, but Jan 15th I started replacing cigarettes with food. I knew better, but I did it anyway. On the good side.....nobody has really noticed that I have gained almost 25 pounds! Jan 15th I weighed 95 pounds. Today I weigh 118. That may not sound alarming but I am only 5'2. Funny....I used to wear big shirts to cover up how thin I was. I hated people saying your tooo skinny. Now I wear the same shirts to cover up how chubby I am! LOL. I have started exercising (swimming and arobics in the pool). I also try to stay under 1000 calories. But I am still gaining weight. I guess because before my quit....I really did not have an appetite. You know.....ya get a break...ya smoke. Well....I can live with lets say 115. Which is still a lil chubby for a lil people like me. Like I said I am staying under 1000 calories and exercising more then I did. But I am still gaining weight. Right now I am going to browse this whole section for clues Any ideals? THANKS! Dear Loves2fish Thanks much, you are sweet and congrats on 30 days! That is huge! Circuit Sounds like we are in the same boat! Thats what I love about this place! I am definitely not alone. Also, I just started this diet and exercise gig, so hopefully like you.keep it up and it will pay off. Ohhhh and 1 more day....to the beach! Danielle Great advice..thanks. I think my calorie intake before I cut back may have been 3000-5000 calories. Hummm kiddddeeerrrrr. But for not smoking I rewarded myself with donuts and candy..SUGAR. I just might look into a nutritionist as you suggest, as this is the rest of my life. Thanks. CobenFan As usual you are always there for me. Thanks! You are just too funny! Whenever I read something you wrote, I burn calories from laughing so hard! Sounds like we are on the same page with sugar and being fluffy etc. You were just dealing sooner then me. I am such good friends with denial. Phillip I already knew you had been successful with quitting AND loosing weight. I will indeed check out your suggestions and thanks. Ya just know I am jealous of you and your beautiful clean healthy body! WAY TO GO!!!! Thanks for your sweet wordsas ever. Go Phillip.go Phillip Thanks everyone......I know this will have to be easier then what I have just been through for the last half a year. Hello Its I don't have the nerve to post all the stuff about what I eat and what I do here. I have lost some inches as I brag about often. I am 5'4 and topped 200 pounds before I started to quit in January. I had gained so much in a previous botched effort that I had to do something radiacally different. So I swim and swim and swim. It is a great work out and if pools or swimmable water is near you give it a shot. The other thing that fires me up is how my dr talks about weight lose and he is real clear. If I want to increase my caloric intake I have to increase what I do do to move those extra calories off my belly and butt. So more in more out and if I want to loose weight make sure to take even more out (caloric content through increase physical activity). The fresh fruit and vegetable is great and I am a real proponent of glycemic index food consumption. Can't put the web addresses up here but just do a google search. O btw I am now fluctuating between 172 and 175 so I have lost a good chunck. And as well I do not smoke although I am very fond of salmon that has had a round with cedar....
