Stopping smoking - The truth

[quote]Stopping smoking is the hardest thing we will ever do in life.[/qutoe] Why do people cheer when someone says that quitting smoking is the hardest thing we will do in life? It is this kind of thinking coupled with my addiction that had me too scared to even try to quit smoking. In my opinion it was a lie that I should have never fell for. Had I not believed it would have been so hard, I probably would have attempted to quit long before now. I have been lucky. My lifestyle, attitude, eating habits, exercise habits had already changed before I quit smoking. Smoking really did not fit into my life anymore. Once I overcame the fear of quitting, the rest hasn't been too bad. I know I still have work to do on 'me' ... but so do non-smokers. NRT, Cold Turkey, Laser, Hypno what ever... No matter how positive we are or try to be - there is no doubt about it.. Stopping smoking is the hardest thing we will ever do in life. We need to change our lifestyle, attitude, eating habits, exercise habits, thought patterns and expect emotional turmoil. We are drug addicts, we know this is true & that it will be for the rest of our lives. Daily routines & efforts to re-train our mind without self medication can be a constant battle. There is no 'easy way' to stop smoking or are there secrets to quitting cos smoking is a lifestyle. When we give up smoking we are giving up a life-style so it makes perfect sence that you realise this if you are to have any success in quitting at all. You have two options.... 1, remain a smoker 2, work at staying a non-smoker. One thing though, i believe that support is probably the most important thing in remaining smoke-free... this site is proof of this.
