Thanks for stopping by vanilla. It is VERY encouraging to hear that the nicodemon is almost totally absent from your life...just a fleeting thought every 2-3 months. We are all on our way! Hey all, I used to hang around these parts a couple of years ago. What a great group of people you all are!!!! Have a friend here in the office I just turned her on to you guys today, so I decided to stop in myself. I haven't been here for quite awhile......looks like you all are doing wonderfully!! To all the old posters-CONGRATS ON YOUR QUITS and to all the newbies-CONGRATS ON YOUR DECISIONS TO QUIT, YOUR QUITS, AND KEEP FOCUSED ON YOUR GOALS! Next month is my 2 year anniversary. NO SLIPS AT ALL!!! I will say that and proud! If I can do it, all of you can do it. I swear! I started smoking at 14, smoked for 17 stupid years, and quit on my 4th try. It is hard, but sooo very, very rewarding. Now let me give you some advice. If you are not sick from smoking your cigs, you're lucky. If you haven't quit.....QUIT NOW!! I had a persistant cough for 2 years prior to my final quit. I've been diagnosed with asthma in the last year. Terrible. I thought for sure I would be okay....Im young....healthy.....if I quit now I'll be okay. Well, I kinda am, but I'm kinda not. So if you are still thinking about quitting, stop thinking and get it done. You WILL become sick......one way or another. Thanks for listening to me boast and lecture. I'll try to stick around a little bit more.....I need to return the favors that my predecessors gave me. ((Penitent)) I remember you......glad to see you still here. I don't see many of the same names that I did back then. Hopefully some of them are enjoying the "silent success" as I have. But I seriously think there's something wrong with that 12 post thing. I know I posted more than that. I lived on here for the first month of my quit and posted everywhere. That number has just got to be wrong. Hey Niks, how are ya? You're here, so you're doing well! And oh is it worth it. Yes. I still have some coughing spells at times, but with the medication that's helping. My energy level is thru the roof, the food I eat.....YUM! I can't believe how food, geez...even water tastes different. I got rid of my "yellow fingernails" from holding cigs all the time. I find that I actually don't get as upset or stressed out like I did when I smoked. Smoking actually CAUSES you to be that way. All of those chemicals in your body makes you mean. And my teeth have become whiter without using any cleaners. Do I still crave cigs? Sure. Sometimes. But not that often.....maybe once every 2-3 months and then I'm like, "Boy I want a smoke" and as soon as that comes out of my mouth, my mind just automatically moves on to another subject. You will be able to accomplish this. To just say those words and forget it 3 seconds after saying it. THAT is one of the best feelings in the world. So it's okay to crave them, and it's okay to say it outloud. You need to say it outloud to that the person sitting next to you has a chance to say, "no you don't". Thanks to the rest of you for stopping by and giving your congrats. I'm the one that should be congratulating you.......I'm okay with my quit and very, very strong against the nicodemons. Not that you guys aren't strong, but I'm here more for you, than you for me. I'm back to help show you all that success is worth it, and gets easier with time. I'm living proof! Hi Julie, Nice to know that you are still quit and that 2 years is just around the corner. Congratulations! 12 posts in nearly two years is as awsome as 4 figures!!! It's nice to know that you can achieve "silent success" and that is good news for the new quitters too! Please hang around and share your experience of your 2 year quit. My Best Wishes Penitent d765

Hey Julie, I remember now, back in October 2004 the site was "upgraded" and the number of posts for each member reverted to zero. You have to laugh, it upset some so much that the left the site, can you believe that? I guess losing your brahgging rights upsets some more than others! Anyway, that's where all your early days posts went and why it's only in the teens today. All the Best as 2 years approaches! Penitent d767
