ID come on get back on track and I agree who are you getting those puffs from????? Stay away from that, you don't need it. You don't want to go back to being a smoker that wants to quit. Our minds are very powerful....you need to jolt yours back to your quit and not to the junkie. Lets think positive things, you are free when you are a non-smoker, your life improves, you smell better, you breath better...come on you can do it. Think how wonderful it is to be smoke free.....remember!!!!! In-Dependance not one puff ever or you're going back to the dependance, so what you've gained a few pounds that won't kill you smoking will. Get back on the wagon as soon as possible and remember how you've stayed quit for five whole months. Use the same determination you used to quit smoking to eat healthy/diet and to exercise. You can have the best of both worlds. Just get up and do it. I use to be a skinny smoker. I do not want to ever go back to that. I may have been skinny, but boy did I stink. YUK! So disappointed in me......almost 5 months! Was doing so well and out of nowhere it hit me! I have had a couple puffs a day for the last few days. I think it started when I saw an old boyfriend (and his skinny girlfriend) whom I have not seen for 8 years, I was thinner then (and a smoker) and could not help but think that all he saw was the fact that I have put on 25 pounds. I am having a hard time with this weight gain and am afraid I will give in. I know this sound really vain but the last 5 pounds seem to be putting a real strain on the camels back! It is sad to think that vanity can win out over health, especially when my mother has just been diagnosed with COPD and 25% lung capacity. None of this makes sense!

Independence, Who are you getting the puffs from? Eliminate that temptation. Puffs lead to whole cigs,which leads to full relapse. It is your choice; to smoke or not to smoke. Don't play with your life. You have five months! That is awesome. Forget about the drags and get back with the quit. Stay away from the source of the drags. Let us know how you are doing. Oh myyy.. Almost 5 months and you're throwing it away??? Whoa!! Snap out of it! I know you don't want to do that or you would't have taken time to post, right? So, you've been given excellent advice here... Get rid of the cigarettes (go sink them in water...now, not later). Give yourself a forehead slap and ask "WHAT AM I DOING???" ... get serious, kick some butt... and get back with the program. Wow, do NOT throw your hard work away. Instead...get a new plan... one you can feel good about. You know, in the time I've been here, weight has always been a big issue, especially with us women. And it's definitely true (we've heard it so many times)that you're better off not smoking and having the additional pounds. I agree with that 100%... BUT.. if we're to be honest, some of us...at some point in our quit.. we don't want to hear that anymore. Our jeans are tight, we're tired... or as in your case, you ran up on an old boyfriend and you just want to go back to the size you used to be, right? Smoking is going to make that happen! Woohoo! Wrong. As one gal said here... We'd just be fatter smokers (and it ages us too). So, smoking can't be an option...not for us vain gals anyway. Nobody said we can't stop smoking AND lose the weight. Of course we can do both! After all, we're the ones in control here...not our addictions. So get a new plan of action... get enthusiastic again! My plan, I made myself my own project. I read anything motivational. I went to a bariatrician and I learned a great deal. It was worth every bit of the $55.00 I spent (tax deductible). I was doing a lot of things wrong. The weight came down...I feel normal again... and I still don't smoke. Give yourself a little more time. I promise, you'll be soooo glad you did... but I can also promise... you will be absolutely miserable and disgusted with yourself for smoking again. Pull it together. Life is toooo good. Grab it by the horns. You are feeling sorry for yourself and the junky is "loving" it....he can creep in at times like this and take over your thinking. while you are thinking that a couple of puffs a day are no big deal, that same junky is looking forward to them as a "fix". Don't be fooled by this thinking!! Take the control back now! Destroy your stash of smokes! Rewrite your list of reasons to quit! I think it has been said that you have to gain 100 excess pounds before you suffer from "weight" more than from "smoking" [u] smoking doesn't make you thin....smoking makes you DEAD[/u] This all doesn't have to make sense....the addict in you doesn't need "reason"...only an "excuse" YOU take over the thinking here....do you really want to give up five months??? Do you really want to have to start at the beginning again??? Put this weight issue aside and bring forth the pride in your quit!! After all, a few pounds can be lost....there are no cures for most lungs deseases. Think, my friend...don't let the junky do it for you.
