I haven't had to deal with the weight gain yet, but I am a stong advocate in leading a healthy lifestyle. It pains me when I see people use the word diet. There are so many variations of diets out there that aren't good for people, but in our society, it seems everyone has consumed themselves (at one point or another) on dieting.
Please understand that I am not a doctor, or nutritionist, but healthy eating is important to me.
I was fortunate to have grown up knowing that there is a healthy way of eating (instead of dieting). It all depends on your choices in foods, how much you consume, and your exercising habits. Loosing weight is difficult, and you will not see immediate results (if done in a healty way), but give it some time and you will. Eat lots of veggies...fruits have a lot of natural sugars (still good for you)....carbs give you energy (not good to eat before bed because they turn into sugar)...protien keeps you strong, and finally drink your share of water and exercise if you're able to (even if it's only for short time spans...every little bit helps). I have heard that drinking too much water can flush out vitamins and minerals that your body needs. There are some websites out there that will calculate your daily water needs according to your weight and height. I haven't done a lot of research on this, but I carry my water bottle with me everywhere!
You know, quitting smoking has a lot of positive side effects such as wanting to live an overall healthier lifestyle like eating healthier and exercising more - all of which makes people feel better.
Sorry for the rambling.......Stay strong and keep in mind that almost everything in life takes a little bit of work
