Lat time I quit, I started again right around 3 months because I was gaining so much weight and my cloths didn't fit anymore. Then i was fat and a smoker. The wieght didn't come off when i started smoking agian. Go buy yourself a nice outfit that makes you feel attractive at this weight. It's important to feel good about yourself because an ashamed person isn't going to be attractive ... ever. My sweet breaking free: You can loose the weight later but you can never grow back a lung. Just remember, when you can't breath nothing else matters. So keep the quit, keep the work out...and everything will be back to normal in time. Hugs, Navigator.

Hi Breaking Free, This is not the time to worry about the weight. My husband quit 8 months ago and gained about 25lbs..he has taken 3lbs off so far and he really hasn't been trying. After we get through the months of craving food, things will die down and our bodies will start adjusting. Be patient. I think when all of this is over I will have put on 50lbs myself, but that is the least of my worries at this point. Take care and stay strong. I did think one thing? PMT? I know i felt as fat as a house last week - then this week, time of the month.. and today i dont feel anywhere near as fat. Neither do I feel as sad and depressed. Sorry to read this BF. I cant offer anything useful to say as I dont feel too great myself today. But I will say this, and that is since I came to this board you have the most dynamic and magnetic personality of anyone, your posts really saw me through those dark first weeks. I dont know the answers for the weight thing, as I am going through that myself, going regularly to the gym, but I dont get it or understand it. Its frustrating, I know i have failed quits before because i decided i would rather be a smoker than a fat person. I hope that you are not thinking that, as i still continued to quit.. you can always lose the weight later! I'm not struggling with my quit as far as cravings go anymore Darcy and am ready to move on to a different aspect of my quit. Unfortunately my body hasn't moved on in my quit with me ... LOL! ;p That is ok ... I am learning how to accept this annoying fact. I will not let it deter me in my efforts though. Thank you very much for your support! It is greatly appreciated.
From what I've seen here, most gain the first 6 months and lose it the last 6. That's very generalized, but it is the pattern I've seen.
This is what I needed to hear. Thank you. I just need to know there is light at the end of the tunnel at SOME point and I'll be ok. Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!!!
I know i have failed quits before because i decided i would rather be a smoker than a fat person. I hope that you are not thinking that
I actually was starting to think that. But I know I can't go back to smoking, so it had me in a tizzy because I felt stuck. I don't want to smoke and I don't want to be fat!!!!
Being uncomfortable in our bodies feels just awful
That is exactly how I feel. I don't feel like I can move freely. I don't know how totally explain it ... it is like wearing a pair of tight jeans all day. By the end of the day you can not wait to get them off ... only with your body/skin ... you can't 'take' it off like a pair of jeans. It is a horrible feeling. ----- Thank you all so very much for your kind words, words of experience, encouragement and advice. I called a friend and cried to her and vented as well. Then I got off my 'pity pot' and FLUSHED! Then I went swimming laps for an hour. ;p My mascara is a little runny ... but I'm gonna be fine. Now in 3 more months if these pounds are still not coming off ... someone's gettin' hurt! ;p heh! j/k My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 70 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,123 Amount Saved: $280 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 22 Mins: 54 Seconds: 29
