Goldie, Don't let the 'fat' issue bring you down, remember this is only temporary. You will soon be back to where you started from. You may want to take up a new hobby like walking, swimming, going to the gym. Anything to help keep you active and your mind off smoking. Hope this helps, Melanie _______________________ The SSC Support Team

Goldie: I am going to Mexico in March in celebration my 100 days anniversary, and went to try on swimsuits the other day !!!! SCARED MYSELF TO DEATH !!! haha. I posted a thread earlier because I am soooo frustrated with this weight issue. I have smoked since I was 14 and I am 45 now so I really dont know what my "normal" metabolism is. I know exactly what you are going through. I am sharing in your tears !!!haha. Goldie- I got so p***** off that I ordered a dozen pairs of pants from Coldwater Creek- tried them all on and send all but two back. I had just lost 30 pounds before I quit smoking and I have put at least half of it back on. I swim twice a week and walk everday- I guess it is back to weight watchers for me....I CAN RELATE, GIRL!!!!!!! Well, I haven't cried yet but I've been close. I discovered that Dockers make a style that I've been able to get away w/so my massiveness doesn't slap me in the face until I try to wear something other than loose work clothing. I started out walking and exercising when I first quit but I hurt my back not too far into it and I've been having stomach problems so I presently have plenty of excuses. I know that I am going to have to do something soon as the warm weather is on the way again and I just refuse to go up another size in my shorts. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is you are not alone in your struggle. If you look back, there are quite a few threads on this subject. Hang tough. We'll get there together. Cold Turkeys don't like diets. Oh Goldie...I can so relate. Yes I have cried and whinned a lot! I even had the doctor tell me I needed to lose weight on top of having to buy clothes that would fit. I have been careful about what I eat (most of the time) and I have tried to exercise more. I have lost most of what I gained. I look at it this way...if we can quit smoking, we can do anything. We post daily in the Daily Diet Watch under this forum. You are more than welcome to join us there. We have a lot of fun and try to keep eachother motivated. Well, I went to buy just some basic black and navy pants to get me through this "heavier" time, and all I did was ball in the dressing room. I'M TWO SIZES BIGGER THEN WHEN I WAS SMOKING. I immediately went home without any fat pants, and got on the cycle. I'm just sick of this....sick of nothing fitting right, eating more then I should, but, at least I'm not smoking, and I know it'll take time, but I will get back to my smoking size. Gotta just hold that premmis. N.O.P.E. Thank you all for your wonderful and positive support..... I will check out the forum you suggested. Again, thanks so much, I do feel better today, have done my cycle riding already, and will walk for break. Don't think I'm going shopping anytime soon, if I stay out of dressing rooms for awhile, I won't get so upset. Goldie- I'm with you. I think I'm still in a state of shock as I never thought about eating or gaining weight and stayed the same size my adult life. Smoked that entire time ,too. I can't get this weight to budge or the inches even though I am dieting, exercising daily(walking 2 miles a day and Curves 3x/week). I feel good and just had a wellness profile done. The no smoking was huge there, cholesterol has come down, the daily exercise was key for wellness. We have to focus on the positives but it IS annoying to say the least!!!!!
