Hi Smilen,

Thank you for posting a bit about what you have been going through. I enjoyed reading it and laughed a few times and I also could relate a few times too. I have to say again I am so thrilled the program is helping you. Your dedication to personal growth is paying off. Seeing results quickly is such a great bonus! It sounds like you are in control of your anxiety and it is only going to get better.

I'm curious, which aspects of the program have helped you the most?

Great to read from you again!

Keep posting!

Ashley

Hello,

I clicked on this thread called New Life to introduce myself because of the title. I am all about rebirth, newness, and striving daily to become a better version of myself. I have dealt with depression in the past, primarily situational, and once I could conquer or sort out various stressors in my life, the depression would subside. How severe the depression was and how long it lingered was dependent on the magnitude of the stressor. I am thankful that I do not struggle with chronic depression because, as one of the members in this thread said, it is a daily battle to keep things together. I think the tools on this site provide a great start to working through depression and other mental conditions we struggle with.

Since the pandemic, I have struggled with anxiety. I shock myself every time I say that because I've never experienced anxiety in this way before. I've never felt panicky or walked around with a sense of "fight or flight," but I do now. It is awful feeling so out of control. Somehow, day by day, I manage to work through it. I've completed the first two modules in the Anxiety sequence, and to my surprise, what I am learning is helping to reduce my level of anxiety. Since starting my education, I have not felt overwhelmed or even close to it. I keep asking myself, is this real? Is what I'm reading really helping me, and how? As I look side-eyed, LOL. I'm not sure, but I will keep going because it feels good not to feel overwhelmed with negative thoughts, especially when you're not a negative thinker. ( If anybody understands what I'm talking about.)

I wish you all the best and hope you find at least an introduction to the answers you came here for. Sometimes, just getting started can bring about the change you've been looking for.

Welcome Newlife!

I am so sorry to hear all you have had to go through. I am very glad you are getting treatment. Do you know if your counsellor is using CBT with you?It may be helpful if you bring some of your homework from here the program. Even if you have worked on CBT before, it is always a positive have a refresher. I encourage you to get started and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask here.

Hope to read more from you soon,

Ashley

Hello all. I have suffered from depression for what seems like, my entire life. Over the past year I have had a really hard time with numerous major stress issues- death of a family member, chronic health issues, loss of a loved pet, hurricane related problems, cancer diagnosis, loss of income, etc that have me at the highest level of depression. I am currently seeing a therapist because I could not seem to be able to break the cycle of my depression. I was on Trintellix but was having horrible side effects from it, now I am on Prozac and Welbutrin which is helping, but I still am having problems with facing each new day. My therapist has me keeping a journal of what is going on each day and that is useful, but I am still searching and wanting to find ways that, not only will help my depression but maybe keep the worst of the depression away totally. Depression is a horrible disease that people live with, it is a constant battle, a battle that has to be fought everyday.

I see you have already started the program. Good job! Have you been able to fit in the time to do the homework?

Soo I had to change my user name cause I locked myself out...oops!

I have seeked some CBT therapy about five years ago but didn’t seem to work. I’m willing to try just about anything but not sure where to start.

Welcome!

I am glad you found us. Have you worked on a cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) program or counselling for your anxiety in the past?
