Obsessive thinking

for 10 år siden 0 619 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I found an accepatble way to deal with the problematic obsessive behavior that I am still testing, and which was recommended from some OCD sufferers. For example, in the case of excessive yoga research, I limited myself for 60 minutes maximum each day of yoga research. It is not easy and a work in progress, but things are getting better. Some days I also use the activity tracker from DC for controling how I use my time and ensuring also that I do not spend so much time with yoga research or any other obsessive behaviors that I am prone to.

You are right Ashley. And as I am with considerable work and holidays are approaching, resulting in additional stress, it is time to restart doing some CBT activities until things start running smoothly again. CBT is really a tool for life!

No problem Eleveno,

Perfectionism can be quite difficult to control but the fact that you are so self aware is excellent.

If all days were perfect we wouldn't be able to appreciate them as perfect :)

Thank yor for your reply. Sometimes I am hard on myself and I think I need to be perfect.

Well, yoga sounds like a healthy obsession to me :)

How is the obsession interfering with your life? What is the obsession adding to your life?

I am obsessed with yoga. What was supposed to be a relaxing activity it is getting intense, trying and working to conquer the next difficult yoga pose. Yoga is an art in itself, a form of expression through our bodies and I love it. Sometimes I do some thought records on obsessive thinking but it doesn’t seem to help very much with this type of thoughts. If I stop doing yoga it will follow another theme for my obsessive thinking, as it happened in the past with other things, so I think that running away is not an option.

Hi Eleveno,

Can you talk a bit more about your obsessive thoughts? What are they? How do you challenge them specifically?

Hello everyone. Depression and general anxiety are under control but now I am under the winds of obsession. Sometimes I tend to obsess about things and it is not allwyas easy to deal with it. Obsession is similar to an addiction, I could compared it to when I quit smoking 10 years ago, the feelings are really close. I already know that to alleviate obssessive thinking I need to recognize it and carry on with another tasks, but it is not allways easy this process, a continuous work in progress.
