Thanks for the support greg_c and Ashley. I really need the positive reinforcement. I have to say the good feeling I had after my workout yesterday carried on for the rest of the day. I had a low depression day yesterday. Just a few times when I felt down and out so to speak.

I think the biggest way that I will continue on is by telling people who know that I'm working through this program what I accomplish. The first thing I did when I got out of the gym was call my husband. He was so proud of me. He even said, "You ran? I don't think I've ever seen you run. I'm so proud of you." Then I called my mom when I got home and she was thrilled. Then I came on here and shared how I was feeling with everyone on here. Telling people made it even more real and the feeling is still here this morning because of it.

More than anything though, the fact that both of you responded to my post is motivation for me to keep it up. |Depression is a hard thing to endure and when you can share with others who understand and have been there, it means a lot. To have feedback from them is even better. So I thank you greg_c and Ashley. You guys will help me keep it up.

Greg_c, my positive thoughts are being sent your way. Take it one step at a time. Try something small like going for a 5 minute walk and then work your way up from there. Do the goal setting and break it down into lots of tiny steps. That way you feel accomplished after every little one and aren't distracted by the bigger goal.  Good luck, you can do it!

Good work Rowsie - can you send some motivation my way?

With your dedication, nothing can keep you down for long.

Amazing work Rowsie!

I  am so proud of you too!  Exercise is excellent for depression and for self confidence too I might add.  How are you going to hold on to this positive feeling and ensure you stay motivated to stick with it?

I can't believe how much going to the gym has helped me. I have been going to the gym for about 5 weeks. I average about 5 times a week (my goal is 3-4) and I love it. Yes, LOVE it. It's time for me and only me. Then afterwards, I feel more alive, like all my body is awake and feeling the day. I don't feel the need to go lie down and not talk to anyone, which is what I was doing before. Instead of making me tired it ramps me up. It's nice to feel again.

Today, I actually ran on the treadmill. I never thought that I could do that. I jog across my store and back and I'm winded. Today, I went 5 minutes. It's a small step but eventually it will build up and will get to half an hour running. I'm adding it to my goals and breaking it down by 5 minute intervals.

I feel so proud of myself and I havent felt that in a long while.
