How to keep the motivation going?

Cernan, To make some goals to increase your self confidence you need to really pin point exactly what it is that that you would like to improve. From reading your posts I understand that you have two major concerns, your weight and communicating with women. To help with your weight you could try joining a gym and setting up a few sessions with a personal trainer to go over some exercises and nutritional tips. You could also join a club, group or team in your area for an activity that you enjoy doing. For example, a swim team, a walking/running group, a karate class, a badminton club. The possiblities are endless, it's a great way to meet people and you can improve your health at the same time. For improving your communication you can pick one or two relationships that you want to work on and identify what it is you would like to achieve in each of these relationships. If it's this girl that you want to talk to, pick a time that you know you will see her and introduce yourself. You will only fail yourself if you don't try. Try to experiment with some of those ideas this week and see what happens. Brenna, Bilingual Support Specialist

Yeah, recent experiences have shown me that I also have a problem being too impatient with myself. I've learned I need to stop expecting myself to be able to go from little experience and skill to Don Juan overnight. Danielle, could you help me come up with some step by goals that will help me increase overall confidence in myself?

Cernan, The opposite sex can definitely be intimidating! To build your confidence, you'll need to get some target practice in. :)Enlist a wingman/wingwoman in the beginning if it helps. Step 1: Smile at a cute girl on the street. Once you've mastered this skill, move to... Step 2: Smiling and saying hi to a cute girl in a more conducive setting for conversation such as a grocery store, bookstore, coffee shop. Step 3: Smile, say hi and ask a question. Step 4: Smile, say hi, ask a question, continue conversation. Step 5: Repeat step 4 and ask for the number. Step 6: Repeat step 5 in a social environment like a bar, a party... Step 7: Repeat steps 1-6 with a girl you're interested in such as the redhead. Also be sure to start working through the tools of the program. The first few sessions will give you strategies to combat negative self-talk. Good luck! Hope this helps. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Hey everyone, this is my first post here. I got sick of having one small thing ruin my entire day so I decided to seek help. I'm glad to find this online help because I'm really not comfortable doing this over the phone. I know I really should but still. Anyway on to the subject at hand. A problem I find I have a lot is I get really pumped up and motivated, I say to myself I'm going to do this or that and then when the actual situation presents itself all of the motivation and confidence I had evaporates and I'm left with the same old me. My major problem as far as I'm concerned is I'm a 28 year old virgin, I know there may be some people out there who are older and a virgin, but still 28 seems old to me to be a virgin. Anyway an example of my problem is last night, I went out to a bar right down by where I live and I knew this beautiful redhead I've been wanting to get to know better was going to be there. So before I go in my head I'm all motivated and confident telling myself I'm going to talk to her and I'm going to let my hair down and talk to other girls and just cut loose. Well when I get there all that motivation and confidence was gone, I still had fun and cut loose more than I normally do, but not in the female sense. I kept making excuses like "Oh, I'll wait until she's standing by someone I know so I can use them as cover" or "It's too loud in here to have a decent conversation with her" stuff like that. So, how does one keep the motivation and confidence going?
