Welcome back! It's good to know you are in a safer place now. I pray that all will go well for your wife and her boys until they are able to join you. Several of you "regulars" have mentioned IMing. I haven't tried that yet but i'm interested. I haven't figured out the time differences yet. I'm on central time- can you/anyone help me with this? I'd like to become more of a joiner so to speak.

Thanks for the welcome back folks. I missed this site badly for the last week when I was incommunicado. Dumpling - very glad to see that you got a grip on the 'other' GPs and that they did as you asked. As for the DIL, what can you do? If she doesn't want to share her trials and tribulations at work with you then there's not much you can do after inviting her to talk to you about her "stuff"? Good news about the Effexor: I think a good SSRI eliminates the gross highs and lows and lets your 'strong' self take back the reins of your life. So, it's YOU you're seeing acting in Life now! Good to see you back on line. I got back from visiting the grand-monsters. It went well. A thought experiment success. The other grandparents respected my request for alone time with the girls and stayed away and I had a lot of fun. I should have told them how I felt long ago. On Tuesday my DIL came home from work early and was strange and distant. I caught myself thinking it was somehow my fault. But I decided that was mind reading so I just sat back and let her be. Later my daughter told me of a serious problems that DIL had at work. I have a tendency to think that I should fix everything and everything is my responsibility. I think I am learning to challenge that. It is mostly the effexor that is making it OK, but with help I think I can make it be ME too, not just the drugs. Anyhow, glad to see you posting again. You are the support system for a lot of us. Get caught up on the posts and welcome home.

Hello friends, Well, I am home in Canada and I'm settling in for the long (6months) wait for my wife and her two boys to get their immigration papers. It's great to be home among family and friends. My spirits are very good thanks to the move and the anticipation of a new life here for me and my wife. And careers and study opportunities for her two boys. South Africa was depressing but incomparably beautiful. No more living in compounds surrounded by razor-wire and guards. No more will the boys be mugged (5 times in 2.5 years I was there!) for their cellphones. It feels good to sit on a verandah here and look out across the fields and to watch the Canada geese gathering in their Vs to head South for the winter. And not to expect a BMW to screech to a halt and have three guys stick a pistol at my head demanding my cellphone and wallet. I say hello especially to Wildcat, Dumpling, Lady and Gabs - hope you're all fine. I'll be on the IM soon.
