Hi members,
Please be sure to consult with your doctor about any concerns regarding side effects of medications. Your local pharmacist is also a great resource.

I was on it 12 yrs ago - went *super* manic. Go without eating for nearly a week; without sleeping four or five days. Dropped from 120 to 92 lbs when I decided to quit the meds. Made my head feel funny. I hated it - I polled all my friends and family before quitting. They all said in the 4 months I'd been taking Zoloft, my mood hadn't changed at all.
Prozac is a good topic to discuss. I was switched from Paxil, by my request from 80lbs of weight gain to Prozac. I lost 20lbs, but had increased my migraines? So, there again another med was stopped! Now I just depend on the LORD and some tabs I get at the health food store that is natural that have helped.
I was on Prozac for a few months when I was 13. It made me sleep all the time. I eventually stopped taking it because of this.
It is always a good idea to sit out the side effects first, before you make any final pronouncements on the matter.
sadalot,
I have been on Prozac for 7 years now, and I really like it, it has helped more then any other anti-depressant, but I am bipolar, so I would still have ups and downs, so they had to give me an anti-psychotic to go with it. Now that I am on both I feel great. I have never had any side effects with Prozac, but Visonary is right, everyone is differant.
What were your bad reactions? Prozac is about the same I think; but perhaps on different people they react a bit differently. Even on medications I get sad a lot too; however, when I am busy with things that I enjoy, time seems to go by better. I have heard that Zoloft made one of my friends kind of manic. I was on a form of Prozac in the beginning ten years ago, but felt my health was not so good on it. The usual complaints , sexual disfunction, weight gain, and possible tumor growth, urinary retention leading to repeated infections. But it did help me weather the storm at the beginning. My GAD symptoms subsided and I felt almost normal for a change.

I was put on prozac last wednesday for major depression and GAD. I had a bad reaction to Wellbutrin and also Zoloft so my dr. is trying this. What side effects have any of you had on this med and do they normally go away after the two week end? Sometimes it's hard to walk around feeling as if you are the only one who ever felt this way.
